It's pretty fun to go back and play ragnarok knowing the tyr twist from the beginning. In hindsight it's so obvious but they mask it so well.

in the tent when Atreus falls asleep and Kratos is looking over him. you can see the face of a man who knows his son is going to be doing something he hoped he'd never have to... almost breaking into sadness but trying so hard to be composed. I've seen that look on my fathers face, he had a beard much like Kratos which can kind of hide those moments if you don't watch carefully. your video was great.

I also think that Bear McCreary deserves just as much praise as the actors. The music was absolutely perfect. Never too much and never not enough. The music made every moment in this game infinitely better. These games, but this one specifically, are a culmination of fantastic people with fantastic talent creating a masterpiece that will definitely survive the test of time. This game is in my top 3 of all games I've ever played, and may even be number one, if I take nostalgia out of the equation. I cannot wait for the next game!

I know a lot of people got upset about Xenoblade losing, and man, does Xenoblade have some of my favorite songs ever made for a game. (A Life Overflowing singlehandedly made me play the entire series) but like you said, the music in Ragnarok was perfection. Perfectly crafted for each and every scene in the game. These weren't simply songs playing in a game, they were the breath, the blood, the sweat and the tears in each and every moment.

You interpreted the murals that he would be worshipped by the people, many streamers/let's players miss that very easily. Your attention to detail was superb, I'm happy to have seen you play this game. The emotional scenes still get to me even years later. Truly a great work of fiction that should never be forgotten.

The story that follows from Kratos was such a tearjerker… I understand the meaning of the story. It’s how the wisdom of the parent is passed down to their children. Now I’m grieving due to a recent loss and this hits real hard.

Been there, twice. Two partners i trusted took all i have built in two different parts of my life. But now you have two paths ahead of you: The path where you trust no one anymore and bear deep hatred for the rest of your life, or the path where you become extremely empathetic towards others and feel their pain. Or both, just like Kratos...hatred first, empathy later. It's up to you how you want your story to end...and make no mistake, what others may perceive of you doesn't matterl. It's how YOU want your story to end.

When Freya showed up with the noose the strangle Odin, I couldn't help but notice how similar things were to when Baldur showed up at the end of the last game. Even the dialog was similar. Baldur to Freya: I've spent the last 100 years dreaming of this moment. I rehearsed everything I ever wanted to say to you. Every word to make you understand exactly what you stole from me... Freya to Odin: I've spent many long winters thinking about what I would say to you as I watched you take your last breath... Baldur to Freya: But now I realize I don't need you to understand anything. I don't need you at all. Freya to Odin: But now I realize there is only one thing I need you to know. You have no hold on me anymore. Then as Baldur was choking Freya, she said to him that she loved him. And as Freya was strangling Odin he said that he had always loved her.

As a father to a son I still think the scene in the tent where Kratos tells Atreus the story is the most emotional of the game. Just the tone of Kratos' voice and the look on his face after, I understand that fear; not of death itself, but of absence, of not being able to be there for your child. Gets me every time I see it.

Thor is such a compelling character in this game. You go into it assuming he’ll be just a generic evil god working for Odin and he’s the most sympathetic antagonist in this series. Just a broken man beaten down emotionally by his father and succumbing to his addiction to cope That scene where Thrud confronts him outside the tavern hit me hard my first playthrough. My brother had some pretty hard times struggling with alcohol addiction, so I definitley sympathized. Thrud’s actress put so much heart into that scene. It’s one of my favorite moments in this series
@Can_O_Crayola2 күн бұрын
Thrud's actress perfectly captured that tone with the "Get up" line. I've heard that tone before when dealing with problematic family issues not dissimilar to this, and it is absolutely heartbreaking. Being scared for someone falling into bad habits, but also hurt and angry that they're breaking promises again. The kind of anger where you want to scream at them, but only because you care so damn much.
@matheus223ify3 күн бұрын
Not gonna lie, the last shot of Kratos seeing himself on the panel, being praised as a "good" god, that strikes in the feels, the fact that he was always more than what we saw, more than what other people called him, more than a monster...

For those of us who've been with Kratos since the beginning and seen all he's done, Faye's last gift to him...that it was always his destiny to be redeemed...hits particularly close to home

I think Thor is a parallel to what Kratos could have been had he not changed for his family. Thor IS old Kratos Also at the end, I like to think that Kratos became a god of peace. The idea of being a god of war and now a good of peace just ties it all up for me.

If there were any doubts about how much of an irredeemable bastard Odin is, even after Brok’s murder, Thor’s death puts them to bed. Emotionally abused and moulded his own son into a genocidal thunder god, wielded him like a weapon, and killed him at the first sign of disloyalty, *without hesitation*

Man with Sindri... that whole scene when he just rips into Atreus for everything he gave to him, and it isn't exactly unwarranted... sure it hurts that he lashed out like that, he's hurting so much in that moment. But really think about what he says... cause even going back to the first game, he seriously is never truly thanked nor told that he is appreciated by us after everything he provides for you and losing Brok that was it. He snapped finally.

I had never seen your channel before the first part you uploaded of your Ragnarök playthrough, but I’ve been subscribed and eagerly awaiting each of the other two as they were uploaded. I played the original god of war games right after the second released back when I was in middle school, and poured a lot of my emotions into them as an escape during that time, so 2018 was an unexpected but welcome surprise in a new stage in my life. Ragnarök was such an emotionally fulfilling experience, and I was just as wrecked and sobbing as you were at all the same parts. I’m really glad to have watched your entire reaction to this game. I’m trying my damnedest to not sound pretentious here, but I guess what I want to say is its not often that you find reactors either capable of or willing to share the depth of emotional intelligence to truly grieve with and for these characters as I know I did, so thanks for sharing in that vulnerability.

Kratos doesn’t just become a better god … I think the final panel was signifying Kratos’ ascension to becoming the all father. When Odin taunted Kratos about being a god worthy of love … Kratos proved Odin wrong and became the god Odin should have been all along.

"Here is the third and final part of my Ragnarök experience. Reliving the story through editing really solidified my love for this game. The themes resonated with me and I appreciate the writers using complex family dynamics to address topics such as generational trauma, substance abuse, found family and learning how to navigate love and trust from both a teenage and adult perspective." I don't think I've ever heard this game and it's themes so succinctly described. So many people dismiss this game as a marvel-coded hollywood blockbuster, but to me it was one of the most personal and emotional stories I've ever experienced in gaming, or maybe in any media. There is so much heart and love and care behind the games grand exterior, it truly needs to be played to be experienced. Thank you for this playthrough, for reminding me of what this game meant to me.

Fun fact: Skjoldr, the Midgardian who, in this game, befriended Loki, was IRL one of the first legendary Danish kings. Although he was real, his story was blended with myth, as he was considered a child of Odin. Also, if you go the Alfheim desert after Ragnarok, you'll see Thrud find what she set out to find 😉

Ive been waiting for this one! I have enjoyed this 3 part series so much. I wish there was a full playthrough available because I'd love to watch you experience the entire game, but this was very enjoyable to watch and I appreciate the effort and time that went into editing this. Im a 35 year old guy and I cried so many times the first time I played this and I still cry at certain scenes. Its impossible not to. However, I'm a sympathetic crier as well, so anytime you did, I did. lol I had to actually hide it while watching this at work haha. Anyway, thanks for these vids, and I can't wait to watch future playthroughs. Hopefully GOWR: Valhalla is coming next? I typically do not like rouge likes (lites? idk), but for some reason I REALLY enjoyed Valhalla. Its another masterpiece of gameplay and storytelling and it was fucking FREE. Not knocking the last of us 2 i love that game(spoiler warning) But this is an example of how powerful you can make a story by sticking to the path of redemption. If they killed kratos in this game who knows how I'd feel about it but im so glad they didnt. He is one of my new favorite characters in fiction not just a grumpy dad with a dark past.

I do love how this game shows the parallels between Atreus and Odin in their rabid search for knowledge, and the costs of that hunt. But where Odin basically had only himself to decide his moral compass and the worth of those costs, Atreus had the bonds he made to eventually learn from. Sadly, the lessons came a bit too late, but he at least did learn.
