Mimir wasn't joking though he knew what he was saying he truely did think that he couldnt be all she wanted and needed him to be and i dont blame him to be honest they both need to find themselves fully and would be nice for Mimir to have a full body again then maybe they both can finally do what they truely want and the fact Kratos sees this and understands why and yet still calls him out on it shows how much he has improved from the unrelenting rage induced powerhouse that kills for the sake of it and for vengence

One thing I haven’t heard many people mention is that Kratos is ACTIVELY asking for stories and lore, I saw this as almost a call back to when Atreus asked for the story behind Draupnir and Kratos didn’t have it because “Atreus was not there to ask” I feel like Kratos actively seeking out these stories is him making sure Atreus doesn’t miss out on the wonderful stories he knows his son would like to know about. Idk maybe I’m looking too deep into this lol just a thought

I mean why not both. Kratos is now showing interests again in the world. Him wanting to show Atreus the horse or him wanting to revisit thw wolves or how he ships Angrboda to his son is him becoming a person and a father. Now he actively seeks stories because he is interested in them. He let his son make his own path but he'll definitely miss him and he will have a lot of stories to tell once he comeback home.

in GOW ps4, the lore entries in the game took the form of journal entries written from atreus's POV, a practice instilled in him by faye while growing up, which kratos never fully understood. in valhalla, they are written in kratos's perspective, some addressed to atreus. im almost certain you are already on the mark.

“Show me someone for whom friendship means lack of love, and I’ll show you someone who wonders why their lovers never end up being worth their time.” Mimir just described the absurdity of the concept of the “friendzone”, certainly the smartest man alive.
@omnipresentl1316
@omnipresentl1316 5 ай бұрын
The main point of the friend zone idea isn't that it is a lack of love but rather it isn't the love that someone strived for and not everyone can accept. They aren't owed the love but they don't have to just be happy about it either since it can be hard to see someone you hold a candle for to go and be with other people and learn that you were never an option in their mind nor would you ever be.
@bacchus8081
@bacchus8081 5 ай бұрын
The only honost way too interpret that line in the context of the friendzone would be realizing that if you are in a friendship only for the hopes of getting laid then that isn't a true friendship or love and you should probably look inward a bit more.

@@omnipresentl1316Respectfully I disagree, at least with regards to what you’re saying as pertains to Mimir’s quote. I understand it as Mimir saying that if that love would look to you and truly consider you a friend, then it takes a fool not to recognise how powerful that trust is. It may not have been the love that you had wanted, but only the shortsighted would not recognise how lucky they are to be called friend by one they respect and cherish. And they wonder why their own lovers never end up being worth their own time (IE, the person in the friend zone thinks their own partners unworthy), because they don’t understand that real, genuine friendship is one of the strongest loves there is, and without understanding that loving a person as they are, independent of your wants (ie, a friend), you cannot hope to truly love and be loved romantically. Incredible to me that a video game can inspire such a great philosophical debate amongst fans!

The good version of the kind of character arc that media like the Mulan remake tried to make. Rather than concluding that she doesn't need anyone else and that everything she needs is within herself, Sigrun instead concludes that she DOES need other people - like Mimir - but that she also needs to know and rely on herself as well, that one needs a balance between acting for oneself and acting for the ones you care about.

It's not even tough love. He's just saying facts. He knows Mimir is a wiseman. His words as a talking head has had more impact than any enemy to Kratos because of his wisdom. He pretty much shared parenting Atreus with him. So when Mimir was showing self-deprecation, he knows Mimir is just saying empty words for pity which he doesn't deserve.

One of the reasons why I liked Kratos from the very first game in 2005 was because, despite his anger, I always felt deep inside there was a human character with more to him than mere revenge and anger. In the original style games, from the trilogy, PSP games to Ascension, there were hints at that, but it kept being overshadowed by the anger and destruction and I initially was not a fan of God of War 3. When 2018 came out, I was kind of done with being a big fan of God of War, and while I thought 2018 was one of the best games of 2018, we already had a fantastic dad-and-child relationship story with TLoU that made 2018 less special, but I love that they've altered him into what I always pictured him as from the get-go. Ragnarok was my favorite game last year, although I didn't love the last hour or so.

It’s still amazing to see Kratos continue to grow from the bloodthirsty savage he was in his younger days. Sometimes I still cant believe this is the same character that was 1st introduced to us on PS2. It it’s been great to see the evolution of the game itself going from a bloody acting game. That had as much gore as a game like Mortal Kombat. Where Kratos would show no mercy and throw away lives just to move to the next stage. It is now turned into a story of a remorseful man on the path to redemption still tormented by his past all while trying to raise his son and protect Astreus from his past mistakes. It is one of the most beautifully written sagas in gaming history. The story telling has just phenomenal in every recent installment. I know the ending will be just as grand.

Hope in the next game after the Atreus solo game we get a conclusion to this story. Mimir finds a way to restore his body and when Sigrun returns “whole” she will find him also whole again. The way they adapt to “oh you’re a disembodied head who has to be carried around with me like a lantern” thing. The fact that to get along with him back in his scoundrel days she had be able to at least appreciate goofy shit to some degree. Even if it was for a practical reason like making a new model or something keeping that thing on her face for this whole goodbye and not even realizing that’s a weird thing to do really works for me lol
