Kratos' experience in Valhalla was a journey of self-reflection. It seems the nightmares of his past haven't left him even after leaving Greece and starting over in Midgard. Valhalla served as an effective form of therapy for Kratos. It helped reconcile his past. We learned he was much more than the monster we've come to know over the years. He does express remorse for what he's done. He even had a chance to speak to his younger self, a scenario I often pondered. He's a complicated man to say the least.

I don't understand, at 1:33:15 why do they mention Jörmungandr "sunning himself across the mountaintops?" If he's been sent back in time, he shouldn't be around anymore. And also, why was the older version of Jörmungandr sent back in time? It should have been the younger version that Atreus and Angriboða created. He would have had the time to grow to his giant size then. Instead, the one that gets sent back is already big enough to span Midguard. The timeline doesn't make sense.
@fusrodah666211 ай бұрын
Ok this is the first time in years I'm writing a comment anywhere, but you're just wrong. The World Serpent that got sent back in time WAS the younger version Atreus and Angrboda created. Throughout the main story she told Atreus that the snake was rapidly growing in Jotunheim and in the final battle, when the World Serpent appears, it appears from the Jotunheim tower and not from the Midgard tower, which is also mentioned by Mimir during the action. I'm not entirely sure if they bothered using a different model for the younger one fighting in Asgard, but I do think so as he does look smaller than his counterpart in Midgard imo.

The nightmares were a result of him being unable to forgive himself. With Pandora's guidance when he was in his own psyche as Zeus tried to infect him with Fear, Kratos accepted his crimes. @@jasonlock884 First of all, in the totality of the game there aren't many hordes of enemies. Most fights are 1 v 1. Second, even if it was mostly hordes, that's not what makes combat difficult in Dark Souls. It's difficult because your character is unorthodox; they move slowly, they roll slowly, you can't jump. It's a mobility issue, not an enemy numbers issue. And third, the reason it's fun is because it's challenging. Duh. Ever gone out and got a degree? Ever moved everything out of one house and into another? Ever done 30 pull-ups? Ever worked on a particularly difficult project that required toil, patience, and skill? Those are challenges. Gamers like challenges in games. That's why we like speed runs. That's why we like no-jump runs, no-death runs, no-hit runs, no-save runs. We like to hone a skill, master it, and achieve the improbable with it. Every boss in those games test our reaction speed, flexibility, patience, attention to detail, and aggression. It's satisfying.
