Geoff is 41, and I agree with you that he's getting better all the time, both in vocal dynamics and the complexity of his arrangements!

Geoff knows how to toy with us😂. That wicked smirk he does right before he drops to the basement is awesome! Geoff stated in an interview that he cannot sing without moving his hands so maybe all the movements come natural to him. I love this song!

I just want to throw in there that, the livechat and comments were filled with love and affection from both Geoff to the fans, and from the fans to Geoff. I mean it always is, but today was next level, and I loved it🥰

You are right, he doesn't lose anything in any range he goes for. I'm sure he would disagree with us :) It really is a testament to how hard and long he has worked on his voice over the years. He is totally amazing and knows exactly how to arrange for himself (and voiceplay) and make it so magical! Love it, always enjoy your reactions!

Coming to expect the headphone toss, anytime you listen to Geoff or VoicePlay. Seems like as good a salute as any; goodness knows they always deserve the awed response for the creations they share with us. Geoff is one of the best, most creative artists I'm aware of right now, and it's always a delight to come here and see you recognizing him as the same. He's a dang treasure, and I'm always excited to hear anything he decides to share with us.

The biggest advantage bass singers have is their voices deepen and get richer with age. Tenors usually lose their highest notes anywhere from their late 40's to late 50's though a few unique operatic tenors kept their high C to their 70's. Be happy we can enjoy Jeff, Avi, and Tim for many years to come! Loved his version God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.

You were close. It's an E1. It sounded like you hit it on the first time you tried. Just bring yourself closer to microphone. Geoff is in his early 40's. Love your reactions and you're a fun person all around!

This is just insanely beautiful! And like you, I love his voice. Also his arrangements. He’s really burning it up these days. You mentioned Tomi P so I hope you plan to check out his Sweet Dreams as well. I’m going to have to sit with that one awhile to fathom all he did both musically and visually.

What I like about this is that he didn't add a low note for the sake of a low note.
@billparrish43852 жыл бұрын
"God rest ye merry" is an archaic English phrase, with a more contemporary wording being "May God keep you joyful." How does God keep giving us this blessing of joy? As the rest of the opening phrases explain, when we are reminded of the day when He sent His Son to be born into our world, so that He could save us from destruction after we had lost our way. "God rest ye merry" indeed!

This is modelled off the Tras-Siberian Orch. version of the song, so a person who is more accustomed to choral versions will not appriciate it as much.

Geoff. Ooof. I couldn't quite tell if that last note was a D1 or a C#1 (edit-- it was E1) but it was so......Geoff. LOL I love the cadence he used. For a funnier side of Christmas try Mission: Jingle Bells by VoicePlay or Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer by Home Free. For the most beautiful rendition of Mary Did You Know listen to Voctave--they sing it with the man who wrote it and he's incredible!

Amazing vocals as always. Giving us some teasing with this performance, maybe he thought he was getting too predictable. What you said about Geoff reminded me of the reaction I saw this morning to a video called "Dimash Slaying It In Every Octave". I didn't recognize most of the performances they showed, so I know you won't either. But they show such short segments they wouldn't spoil anything, just enhance your interest. If your interested in watching the video in the first place.

Harmonizing with yourself is really not easy. Geoff is good at it. Loved his "Sixteen Tons". Peter Hollens is the master of course and the surprising one is Avi Kaplan who does it in both "Aberdeen" and "Change On the Rise". Change in multiple bass voices.
@DravenGal2 жыл бұрын
I think Geoff is actually singing it right! It’s NOT “God rest ye, Merry Gentlemen.” It’s “God rest ye merry, Gentlemen.” We had to research several Christmas Carols in high school choir, this being one of them. And he does it so beautifully too!
