Went on incognito mode to search this manga up and read it. It was... an experience Not a pleasurable one, but it's an experience. This manga wasn't made for shock value, or to exteriorise some weird fetish. I feel like the manga tells the tale of a person who thinks they are above everyone else. A person so egoistical, that they believe that they are above consequences. The gore scenes were pretty gruesome. Altough it wasn't a fun read, I would recommend it if you are into horror or just want to feel messed up. Ughhh

Similar to American Psycho.

This feels like it tried to do what Goodnight Punpun did with its own main character: that being a coming-of-age story surrounding a boy who's frequently mistreated growing up to become an incredibly flawed and selfish person that commits harmful acts. But GP had something this didn't...and that's nuance. It tried to tell an actual story about a word full of shades of gray...meanwhile this story just amounts to "lookit this guy doing all this crazy, messed up sh*t!!!"

For sure! I think the low chapter count also sort of attributed to the downfall of this manga's story telling quite a bit as well.
@terrigo39877 ай бұрын
Eh, I don’t think that’s what God’s Child was trying to go for. It’s clearly going for a more detached, surreal tone in line with the mindset of the main character. The main character quite literally remembers his time as a sperm. He’s heavily implied to be an actual antichrist figure instead of just a mentally disturbed kid.
@Dontreadthis0 Жыл бұрын
read it and i would agree. I think it like almost had something really powerful to say about how we treat those we view who have mental illness or some form of developmental disorder and how people like that come to be but it went straight into shock horror after the first like 3-5 chapters and lost the plot
@ItsDang Жыл бұрын
Yea, it's a bit of shame. I think it could have done more with a lot more chapters though to sort of help flesh everything out and add context to more of the "shock horror" it devolved into.

I need people to stop acting like everything has to have some deep meaning to it. Sometimes people just like to write disturbing things bc humanity has a morbid curiosity.
@myxini9 ай бұрын
It doesn't have to, but you can't really fauilt people for having a different taste in stories? It's good to know beforehand what you are going to read
@Cronalixz6 ай бұрын
@@myxini That's not what OP is criticizing though. The video and a lot of people in the comments are criticizing the manga for not delivering in a way they expected, which goes against art simply being art. Pathos. Specially in manga of all things, expecting something to always have a deep meaning is rather unwarranted if not flat out invalid, and it has nothing to do with taste. Sometimes what you feel from reading it is simply the point and there is nothing more to it in the specific sense, it's meant to be that way.
@TheMightyPika10 ай бұрын
ever see some art and you just KNOW that the person makign it isn't mentally well? I can't put my finger on what it is but it's very much a real visceral reaction.
@bajojajo699 ай бұрын
Agreed, it's not that scary compared to for example Junji Ito's works (that are downright deranged), but it's apparent that whoever drew this had something wrong with them
@omoriref9 ай бұрын
Art is used as a form of self expression. If someone's mentally suffering, they tend to project it onto their own artwork. But notice how the deepest and most touching works are the most deranged? They speak against all the wrong in the world unlike other media. When you're mentally unwell, you tend to be more sensitive and hyper vigilant to how messed up society is, and people turn around and say that there's "just something wrong with you". The protagonist here is very unethical and gross, but notice how he notices how disgusting humans are and takes advantage of it. The artist might be trying to communicate how everyone to an extent has something wrong with them.

You mean "psychopathic" "sadistic" "sociopathic"?

I don't think those are ableist i just think the commenter is easily offended@@JustM-wq9on

If the other replies are correct then those are actual psychological terms that are just commonly misused, and not slurs, please tell me you didn't mean "psychopatic sadistic and sociopathic" as JustM-wq9on thought (And just because I know how the internet works, I am autistic and have adhd and DON'T kill and assault people, I don't act like that or ^ that)

I love psychological horror and psychological media in general. The more disturbing it is, the more I enjoy it for whatever reason. I definitely slurped this manga up like water. I really like the art style a lot and how the manga hyper focuses on the darkest nature of humanity. It's not often that stories give an audience a hard to swallow pill on their own nature.
