I wouldn't know anything about this poem if it wasn't for Jimmy Buffett putting it to music on his Living and Dying on 3/4 Time album. Thank you Lord Buckley, and thank you Jimmy Buffett for a GREAT story

Buffett had great taste back then in his repertoire of originals and well-chosen truly off-beat pieces like Lord Buckley blew. Wonder if he still has such great taste given his entrepreneurial colossus with the MARGARITAVILLE franchise? Good talent, great work ethic. Bless Buffett for creating jobs where so many others who've made it big have never thought of adding a folk club or cafe to this neighborhood or a production shop to that 'hood. Do listen to all of Lord Buckley's records. This stash of Bashful Bob's gig bootlegs is quite a find and this version of "God's Own Drunk" has some subtle variations from the one issued on record I keep going back to. Especially since the passing last year of that other spoken word wizard of imagi-Nation, Chicago WordJazz pioneer and advertising artist Ken Nordine: www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/ct-ent-ken-nordine-dead-0217-story.html Health and balance in our Age of Plague Mitch Ritter\Paradigm Sifters, Code Shifters and Song Chasers Lay-Low Studios, Ore-Wa Media Discussion List

Over the last 50+ years, on various continents, I have 'owned' about half a dozen LP's in this cover. I have 'loaned' them all out at one time or another, none of them have come back, but they're where they aught to be - circulating - I just hope they're being treasured and passed on.

Hey there Bashful. What a gem - thanks. This old Luddite is trying to learn how to share some of his stash, 'specially old vinyl. A number of riffs from the 4CD set "Tales of Lord Buckley" will be amongst my first attempts...ooops...glass is empty - need a refill !!

Thanx to Jimmy Buffett for introducing me to the works of the Great Lord Buckley ! . . . And he done it SO true to the original . (when I went to a Buffett show back in about '80 he was legally prohibited from performing it - had a girl come onstage with a sign displaying Buckley's estate lawyer's ph# to call!) Thank you Lord Buckley - thinking of making it my theme song ! . . .and note to Jimmy - maybe get back to your roots ? !
