I suppose you’ve gone wrong with the the generalisation somewhere. That is Punjabi culture, not Asian or even Indian. India is diverse beyond belief and we harbour thousands of cultures. So that’s a little disheartening for it to be diluted and called Asian culture. Further, the entire Asia has incredible diversity that demands to be appreciated.

GT Hussler The only reason hip hop brings together more people than other types of music (such as bhangra) is because it was made with access to western instruments and technology, and the english language which was made international due to colonialism. So its really nothing special about hip hop itself.
