I can't disagree with you. Charles will be stepping into quite an unfair situation really. We've had this great Queen (the longest serving British monarch since 1066AD) who has been on the throne as the only monarch people alive today know. Give Charles his due, he is the (longest waiting heir apparent) I think this right off the bat puts him in a tough spot. It will be a major shift, he will be different.. I hope people give him a chance. He will never have the rapport with the people that Queen Elizabeth II has had in the history of the modern monarchy.

The national anthem always sounds so awesome when it's played inside this and other churches for royal weddings. The Princess was radiant and obviously loves her Grandmother, her groom a handsome chap. I wish them well. I will say, I realize with all due respect that our great lady is aged, as I really did notice it during this event. I hope she still has some mileage left in this her winter years of life. I fear our monarchy has been held to it's standard based very much on her. I do not think it will go away.. yet, do not think it will remain as most people alive today have known it to be. God Save The Queen.. indeed!!

Have to say, this wedding was everything the wedding of a minor royal ought to be. It was short and dignified with, thankfully, not as much attention paid to the celebrity guests as in previous royal weddings. The focus was on the couple, as it should be. The bride looked stunning, graceful and poised, and the groom looked suitably nervous, lol. The reading from F. Scott Fitzgerald's 'The Great Gatsby' by Beatrice was a lovely touch and she delivered it wonderfully particularly as she has dyslexia.And to have Andrea Bocelli performing Ave Maria and Panus Angelicus was sheer bliss. Others have mentioned how tired and old the Queen appeared, she IS 92 and is clearly showing the signs of her longevity which is to be expected. As for the anthem, it never sounds as majestic as it does when played at such events. All in all, a beautiful occasion, and I wish the newly weds a long, happy and productive life together. Oh and congratulations on the announcement that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting their first child.

Brit here. So tired of people saying Her Majesty looks miserable or complacent when our anthem is sung. The Queen is our head of state but also our figurehead, our symbol of national identity, a consistent link to our past stretching way back before WW2, in which she served. She is a living link to our history and what it means to be British. The strength of her symbolism is in her even-handedness, her unchanging behaviour, her constantly steely attitude no matter what she faces. This doesn't mean she never smiles, or laughs, or greets people warmly - she does all of those things. It just means that, at moments like this one, where people are paying tribute to her and our nation, she represents our country's unwavering pride and stoicism.

When Prince Phillip passed the Queen looked so sad and frail, she sat alone all dressed in black and looked so small. Normally she dressed in bright colors but on this occasion she was all in black for mourning and she just looked terribly sad. It broke my heart because it was the end of an era, she must have known that her time on this earth was coming to an end. She lived such a selfless and dignified life and there will be no other like her. In my heart she will always be the Queen. May Her Majesty Rest In Peace.

So many royal weddings at this location. The seating box above Princess Eugenie was where Queen Victoria sat in March 1863 during her son, the future King Edward VII wedding to Princess Alexandra of Denmark. At that time the Queen was in deep mourning for her late husband, Prince Albert.
