We sang Stainer’s The Crucifixion yearly at St George’s Anglican Church as I was growing up. God so Loved the World left it’s mark on me as a teen. I pray that my entire family will hear and understand, and kneel in awe and gratitude before the Cross of Jesus🙏🏻

Sublime, sung with such sensitively, thank you. It’s hard to beat Stainer’s setting of John 3:16, the heart of the gospel. Our church youth group used to take the tube to Baker Street every Good Friday evening to hear the Crucifixion sung in Marylebone Church, where Stainer had been organist.

I sang this with two or three different choirs when I was young, starting with the Sr. Choir at the First Baptist (Am) Church in Arcata, California. Today’s Gospel passage reminded me of the song, and I’m so glad to find this beautiful performance. I don’t believe in Biblical inerrancy, but I do believe that beautiful music can move us toward goodness and kindness.

I wish u just googled the beginning of the sentence, that initial clause. Had u done so, u wouldve found the answer to ur question (which is ironic). God sent His Son to die, as the perfect atonement for the sins of both u and i, the old and the young. Another proof is that we are still here. He promised to send His wrath onto this planet, not for His selfishness, but for the wickedness of all of us.
