Godfrey's too DAM GOOD for his own good. Smh. They will NOT let him in because he stays true to himself and his craft. Love this dude.

Geo Three : I guess it depends on what you consider “in”. He’s famous, successful, pays his bills and (as you said) “true to himself”... What’s the problem? I agree that he’s “dam good” though.
I am with Godfrey. I like thought provoking Comedians over slapstick any day. I'm so sick of the low brow stuff that's prevalent in the Black circuit.

@28:35 I'm saving all of Godfrey's videos. He is in my Top 5. However, he need to reach out to Tyler Perry if he want to 'change' the visuals if black americans. And, hope that they let him in....since Africans passive aggressively shyt on american blacks which is this entire interview. Godfrey would differ but, it's a classic case of 'I'm better than black americans but, since I'm treated like one, let me act like one with a little flair"

U can tell this interview is almost a decade old... He sounded a bit cynical, to be honest...More so in his feelings about our ppl & the state of Black comedy & that's completely fine. He was in a different place in his life then. I follow him on Instagram & listen to his podcast & am subscribed to his KZbin channel TODAY & listening to him in THIS interview & thinking about the way he is NOW??? His outlook on life has been tweaked a bit... The foundation of his beliefs are still the same, but he has (as have us all) lived through the Obama administration, Trump & all the minutae that has gone along with just living life in the US over this last decade. He's an intelligent, EXTREMELY funny, beautiful, EVOLVED Black man. Proud of him... Aaaand I actually OWN "Black By Accident"... One of the few comedic specials that I HAD to have in my personal collection. It's BRILLIANT. *referencing his comment about Brits earlier in this interview* 😁😁😁

He lost me on the part about him not being your typical Black comedian. The ways he tries to distance himself from the American Black comedians, and disregards their act as stupid and tap dancing was very disappointing. Just because that is their experience, and not yours doesn't mean they're stupid. The whole affirmative action comparison was problematic as well. Affirmative action is not for those that don't deserve to be picked, it's for those that deserve it, but are too often looked over or not selected because they are Not White. He comes off as, atleast in this interview, as condescending and belittling. This Tends to be how a lot of immigrant Black people see American Black people, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised.
