I used this guitar on a couple gigs. I'm an electric player and when I used this guitar I was able to play alot of the electric riff with an acoustic sound. I didn't use the electric side of it at all just the piezo. I gave it a set up and had no issues with it. Plus, if you have sensitive hands and an acoustic is too much stress to play, think about this guitar....

This is the best review by miles I seen on this guitar. I also was interested on how it sounds with out an amp and this review showed that while others never did. It is from this review alone that now has me looking to buy this guitar.

I wasn't suggesting that the guitar doesn't sound good, I think it's pretty nice. I quite like some of the tones demonstrated. And I think as another tool in an electric guitarist's toolbox, this is just dandy. Nothing wrong with that. I have heard hundreds of acoustic guitars. I've owned and played them professionally for more than 40 years, currently a Martin, a Bourgeois, and a Lowden. If my guitars sounded like this I would take up golf.

Tell Brian Gunder I said hello. He's an employee and a great guy. I'm a full time acoustic soloist. Everything from Arlo Guthrie to 311. I have an A6 Denim Blue Flame and I do use a TC Electronic BodyRez pedal (which, or an equivalent, is a MUST for any transducer guitar) to give body to the transducer. I use 10-46 electric ClearTones (you must use electric strings because of the humbucker). It's hard to get a "working man's" tone from this instrument. If I were a jazz man or a big band guy, it would be simpler. Warm and clean or warmer and soft. But I need to go from strum to lead instantly. I have a Taylor T5 Custom, a Guild S7CE Peregrine, and have used a Crafter SA in the past as well. They are all more gig friendly right out of the box. All three of them are very forgiving. Not the A6 (The crafter SA was the best of the bunch as far as flexibility but I sold it). I need flexibility. IT's not practical to make these kind of adjustments on the fly ON the instrument. Here's my setting that works for me: First off, the OEM humbucker is WAAAAY too big and boomy for this guitar. It's the biggest design flaw in my opinion. A 20k or less HB would have been AWESOME. I buried it down in the body as deeply as I could, with the high side slightly higher. My "on guitar" settings: Humbucker: Bass all the way down, treble all the way up. Volume at about 65% Piezo: Bass at 37%, treble at 40%, mids at about 60%, and volume at max. On my mixer I have the bass at 11 and the treble at about 12:30. I turn the TC BodyRez pedal off when soloing. It reduces compression and brings back some of the mids and gives a different voice which you want. This guitar can be terrible or awesome, but the settings are crucial, and the good sounds are counter intuitive on the controls to what one would think reasonable. Those crazy Canadians. :/

You can use both outputs to go to two separate amps or you can use one output and blend both sounds into one amp. I like using two amps but it is not always practical.

There is a neck truss rod, so the neck can be adjusted. As for the intonation, you'd have to re-work the saddle, just like any acoustic guitar.

Well I have had my A6 Ultra for a few months now..love it ...I did a little modding...new Tusq Black nut , saddle and pins ..and went with the gauges I mentioned..with wound 3rd/G .(DR Zebras)... the strings on mine when it arrived were way to thick for this old man.....decent acoustic for a thin hybrid and just fine plugged in ...I most often go through a Fishman Aura Spectrum and even put a Zoom A2 before that some times....nice range of tones ....

The Godin A6 Ultra came out long before the Acoustasonic Tele. I had a Godin "Acousticaster" in the early 90's. I actually had 2 of them. I loved it, and regret that I sold it. I have used "hybrid" axes like this one since Washburn came out with the "Red Rocker". It was a solidbody hybrid, and a bit on the heavy side. For the past 15 years I have played the Yamaha AEX500, a very inexpensive hybrid that has served me well. But being a bit cheap, the neck needs constant adjusting.

Is there anyway to get MORE VOLUME out of the preamp? Unless the humbucker volume is added, this guitar almost sounds like there's NO PREAMP built in.

Johnny, not that I remember. It was mostly pretty weak signal and a bleed between the AC pickup and the MAG. It was just weird the way things worked, that's all I remember. Sorry :/

10's are definitely a great fit, but just be careful not to get Phosphor-Bronze...they don't pick-up well on the humbucker so I had to switch back to steel or nickel-wound strings for my A6 Ultra.

Continuing my post... 2 years ago, I got the A6 ultra, hoping it would be as good to me as the Godin Acousticaster had been. But I had nothing but problem with it. Yes, after some setting up, it played ok, but I had problems with the pickup system, some sort of wiring issue I think. I got the Black one, and the slider pots on the front are IMPOSSIBLE to see on a dark stage. I wanted to love this axe... but it was not for me, so I finally sold it. Wish I hadn't sold my Acousticaster with Baggs.

WHat kind of strings do you recommend? I usually play live with my Taylor 314 (lefty) with a fishman pickup and regular size acoustic strings (d'addario). Obivously been dealing with feedback issues, too much bass, EQ a bit off sometimes. I definitely would love this for our harder songs we play later on in the night as a second rhythm . Great guitar!

Hi ! I got a question to ask : I got a Multiac duet Nylon, and there's a blend cursor, mixing the undersaddle transducer and the pick-up : in this video, I just see you "acting on the volumes, as if at the left of the equalizer, there's the Transducer's volume, and on the right of the equalizer, it's the volume of the humbucker. Is it that, or there's a blend cursor too ? Thanks by advance. Good video. Greetings. BYE !

Chris, did you use high gain with your A6 ultra? If so, I'm curious if you had any issues with feedback or buzz. Overall, this is the guitar tone for what I do but recently I've been getting a crazy loud ~60hz buzz when paired with a high gain guitar pedal on the neck pick-up output only. I don't know if I have a bad ground within the guitar or if this humbucking pickup just doesn't "buck enough hum" for the distorted lead I want to play.

I just wonder if we can add a guitar effects/pedal to this like overdrive, distortion, delays, reverb or any modulations to this. Because I'm afraid that it might produce an unwanted feedback...
@benbrunskill56186 жыл бұрын
It has two outputs, so you can use distortions, etc, on the electric humbucker output

which guitar came out first? Fender Acoustasonic Telecaster or this one ? They both have the acoustic/electric sound, but the Fender has the stereo cable allowing 2 separate amps at the same time. First I found out about the Tele, now I see this. The electric sound on this Godin is darker and muddier cos of the humbucker, than the Tele. Decisions..decisions.. lol !

Never sure of the difference between 'unique' and 'very unique' .... but not so unique as to ignore the Taylor T5, T5z or the Fender Acoustasonic. So maybe "almost unique but not quite" ??? I have found that for practice, the Yamaha THR5A amp is perfect for a hybrid guitar as it accurately captures the acoustic tones of my T5z and yet copes with all the electric settings.
@spacejockey47465 жыл бұрын
I would definitely classify this guitar as "very unique." I don't know of any other production hybrid that features a full-sized neck humbucker. Neither the Taylor T5/T5z (as you well know) nor the much newer, Fender Acoustasonic offer a model with a humbucker. If anything, the A6 takes the very unique Multiac design in a different direction.
