Check out the Godin MultiOud. Based upon the ancient middle-eastern 11-string instrument called the Oud and inspired by the countless musicians struggling with the issues of tuning and amplifying such an instrument comes the Godin MultiOud.

Mr. Godin, you are a genius! I am a fellow Canadian and I own quite a few of your instruments. They are all superb! Thanks for providing instruments for progressive musicians.

Robert Godin has some great ideas in the line of instruments. I find the shape of the miltioud very interesting. It looks similar to the Klein electric guitar or the Ovation Breadwinner/Deacon. It would be very cool if Godin manufactured an ergonomic guitar at a price point less than the custom made "Klein clones" cost. I know I'd get at least 1! More likely a couple with different options :) A Godin Ergo-multi...yess

Love the sound and build of Godins. Only problem I have is the fingerboard radius and neck profile. Just too flat for me. Wish you made some options.

@modamusic you can put some strap pins on and you may need to make a specialized capo yourself or have a series of capos in different sizes because of the large fingerboard flare but you can do anything to it that you can think of as long as you dont break it

I've been playing guitar for 13 years and the oud for 5. It's not easy for most western guitarists to switch to oud. I grew up listening to Arabic music which made it easier. As for tuning, It depends on the region. I personally use Iraqi tuning which is (Starting from deepest string) F (or G) A D G C F Also, I wouldn't recommend this as a first oud. You can get a more reasonably priced one from oud sukar

I'm not sure why but this sounds 100x better than the glissentar...interesting its a huge difference in tone...I'm leaning towards the multi over the gliss because everything I've heard on the web sounds better with the shorter scale multioud...and I don't know why

Great sounding instrument. It also has to do with who’s holding the pick. Give it to me and I’ll make it sound like a coffee can with strings

OK.. this sounds incredible.. I'm in love with this thing. How does someone who is a reasonably advanced guitar player learn how to play the Oud? I'd get this Godin in a second if it came with some sort of DVD crash-course. Also, how is it tuned?

The tuning you included in your comment is the most common one in most regions, not only in iraq. agreed about the last part; this is not the best oud to start with , a more plan and classic one should be the first oud anyone owns.

Oh, it definitely is unless you spend $2000 plus on an oud. Cheap ouds have cheap tuning mechanisms.

You can use this oud without electricity, I want to hear it without electricity because I want to buy it like it, but it is hesitant and I sometimes use the oud without electricity, and is there better than this oud in the case of not using electricity, thank you very much

This is not an oud. It does not have the deep, sonorous sound that an oud has. It has a nice sound, but it is very quiet. Personally I think the advantage of this instrument is you can spend time playing/learning and not have to fight the tunig pegs all day. But it is not an oud.

A decent oud in the US will costs $2000 or more. One that you could probably buy in Istanbul for $500.

Guitar Center,, Musician's Friend, etc. Looks like they only have one model. ~$1600. There used to be a second model that was about $500-700 cheaper.

after trying it am very very disappointed , its not electric nither acoustic , has no character at all , unbalanced sound , each string produce a different level of db and power you need a compressor pedal to balance it it still you will not reach your desired sound and dynamics that a simple acoustic oud does
