The Lipstick Pickup gives it a nice Jazzy Archtop sound, yeah Europe meets America.

To my ear, only when the neck pickup was brought in did it sound really good. There certainly is a lot of pickup/mic options for blending so perhaps various combinations for certain situations/rooms would be good. I do find that just the under-saddle pickup and mic to be a bit sharp on their own (just from listening to this clip). Nice demo of the sound options .... that guitar cable digging into the sofa is making me uneasy though LOL . I am feeling that just for this model, I wish it had the small oval sound hole and all those sliders were on the top edge.

I've noticed that Godin's acoustics are seemingly miles ahead of their electric models. At least, it seems many prominent aritsts really enjoy godin and seagull acoustic models. Not so much on the electric side. I have a godin session, and I love that puppy, but this is a bulldog workhorse right here :)

The gypsy jazz strings + electric pickup have some problems. The wound stings are less magnetic. You can hear the volume jump at 3:20 in the wound vs plain strings. This model would gain from adjustable pole pieces electric pickup so the user can balance this out. Just a suggestion.

Great demo of a superb instrument. I've never played on one, but why do gypsy jazz guitars always seem to have a rattly low E string?

I'm going to make a guess here and suggest that back at the time (just before amplification became popular) , they were playing acoustically and with thick picks and trying to get volume for the small clubs (and perhaps this player demonstrating has that kind of technique). Of course if the action is a bit low this would also cause a bit of rattle. I know that flamenco guitarists usually have low action and want a kind of controlled fret-buzz but I don't know if gypsy jazz players like Django Reinhardt were wanting any kind of rattle or if it was just from playing hard for acoustic volume. Well that's my theory anyway ... but maybe you should ask at a place like www.djangobooks.com/forum/

Sounds great, but I bet it would sound every bit as good with no pickups at all played directly into a good mic. It would be helpful to have a sound hole.

Had high hopes for the instrument. Sadly they seem to have nailed a blend of the big tone and stimer sound. Might as well just use an archtop. Don't like the thin body either. That all said, this is based on the audio of youtube, would like to try one in person to be proved wrong!

It’s sounds a bit thin to me. It’s best to just use a regular Gypsy jazz guitar and amplify it with some sort of pickup. This style needs a nasal dry tone and you simply won’t get that out of a guitar like this. It looks nifty however but may be a bit too expensive for a guitar “on the side”.

Trovo scandaloso che una chitarra di pregio non abbia uno straccio di istruzioni in italiano .E dire che non costa poco .anche l’importatore mi ha liquidato freddamente ed in malo modo dimostrando poca voglia di lavorare. Sono letteralmente incazzato con questa gente che non segue i clienti
