Really like the sound of all these pedals. You really can't go wrong with any Maxon pedal. I think the OD 820 Pro has that something special & wonder if you could compare Maxon OD 820 to a Klon Centaur?

I eventually sold the 820 that I had to my drummer/producer and it's now the go-to addition in his studio for re-amping and juicing up guitar tracks and he loves it. I never loved it as much as my OD808 but it's an awsome pedal. And thanks for another great demo, guys ;-)

We were just discussing what to shoot next week. Choruses sounds like a good plan... Thank you for the suggestion.

The OD820 has been on my list since it came out… I somehow always pick other “more exciting” pedals to buy. I NEED to just go for it soon. That thing is a beast.

Great demo... lots of info.. and good comparisons... For all those folks that overlooked all the info and got caught up on what shpiel ment.. Then just apply for work in the sanitation dept and get off the music related boards...

The 820 is a really nice pedal for very subtle overdrive. I do notice a slight drop in bass when using it though which I hear is typical of most all 'tube drive' pedals. I have the PH350 in this series as well and it's a sonic psycho! But alas all these pedal no matter how 'true bypass' or 'transparent' they are supposed to be and I'm not just talking about maxon, whom arguably make the finest pedal on the planet, they still take something away from plugging straight in. I like my amp doing it's thing on it's own best. Plugging into a swart astpro, or a tungsten crema wheat, or a victoria tweed twin, so as you would surmise, I'm mostly playing with a clean amp. so be it, I'm no rock star or studio musician.

Wondering if the TB-O9 would work as a pre-amp pedal for DI into cab sim. Sometimes I can't use my amp, so I have to DI with cab sim. Been using solid state pre-amp pedals (AC Tone, California - the Joyo clones of the Tech21 pedals). That tube might give me a little more warmth when DI-ing into cab em. EDIT: tried it, and it worked! Drive almost off at around 7 O'clock, Tube up past 1-2 O'Clock, tone and level to suit the situation.

@@javiceres Works even better if you stack tube-based pedals. Atm, for my DI rig I'm running the TB-09 after a Fuzz, then into a Maxon ROD-881>Hotone Binary AMP simulator>Maxon Chorus>Delay>T-Rex Roommate Reverb (a tube-based 'verb)>Digitech CabDryVR (impulse response pedal)>Mixer>Powered PA. Great tones. The tubes aren't guitar amp tube ofc, but they DO help in adding some tubey goodness and warmth.

"Unity Gain" is different with everyone's set up. Different amps, Guitars, effects etc.. can change this.. I have used this pedal many times and it has never been too loud or hard to get unity gain. We are the distributors for Maxon and we maintain the Maxon website. What hear here is what we have written there. All the Maxon OD pedals are based off the 808 circuit. The VOP9 is basically an OD820 in a smaller box.. the OD820 is based off the 808 with a couple changes.. Email us for more info.

TBO-9 is a monster. Sounds just like a dirty channel on an amp
@53flitcraft11 жыл бұрын
So why does maxon tech info section on vop9 fail to mention 820? The tbo9 does mentions 820 on Maxon site. I own od 9, od9 boost pro...can get unity gain with knobs at noon. 820 I had to leave vol at 8:00. So I sold it. If vop9 said it was a new version based on od 820, I would buy one, but it only mentions 808. Check maxon tech info on both of these pedals and you'll see.
@53flitcraft11 жыл бұрын
My 820 was too loud. Unity gain, and right dirty tone, not possible when switching it on. On maxon website, I thought it said Vop 9 is related to 808 not 820. The tbo9 supposedly related to 820.

Dumb Question: I have been running my OD820 off a standard 9V adapter since day 1, I didn't know it was 18V: / I am using the Pedal Power 2, I know I can get an 18V jumper. In the mean time is it A) bad for my signal path to be running the 820 at 9V and B) will i notice a difference? I have a really nice signal path from a beautiful old 335 (with coil tap) leading to a Mesa Lone Star Special through the Empress Comp and the Strymon Time Line in the loop. thanks
@GodlykeInc11 жыл бұрын
No it is not bad. you will just not get the most out of the pedal. Email - sales at godlyke dot com they can help you there.
@Lanearndt11 жыл бұрын
GodlykeInc brothers, by what i've learned recently the OD820 IS a 9v operation but it couples itself internally to create an 18V current off the 9V power supply. every bit of research we could find today created a consensus (+plus mine says 9/10V operation only above the ac in. what sayeth thous? curious.
@xenod106610 жыл бұрын
Lane arndt You are right. - It runs off 9V and boosts it to 18v inside the pedal. They say this in the video, but gave strange answer to your question.. but yes 9V is correct. - May draw a fair amount of current, so don't run too many high-current-draw pedals off a small power supply with not enough current rating.

ts9 kinda foolproof tbo reacts differently in live situations but more realistic 820 with real tube to bulky but better people tend to go gear junkies play what you got
