hmm i might be wrong, but im sure the kci key interaction you can only do that if the activated ability in question doesnt require a tap cost. as the window to activate mana abilities (kci) happen before other cost are paid (the tapping) which is illegal if u sac key away already.

601.2g If the total cost includes a mana payment, the player then has a chance to activate mana abilities (see rule 605, “Mana Abilities”). Mana abilities must be activated before costs are paid.
