Thanks Rob. The Model setting of CONT (continuous) or INTER (intermittent) are useful if one is shooting at slow shutter speeds where the model lamp can influence the exposure and white balance of the file. In the INTER mode the model lamp turns off and is delayed @1 second after the flash fires.

Yes, but not in a meaningful way. If it powers down for a 1/2 second and you’re taking a photo every 8 seconds, it would only last about 6% longer.

I have a question i don’t know if anyone has run into this issue. I would love to see if u could help please. So I have this unit and the xpro trigger shooting with a Nikon d810. The issue I been having is the unit won’t fire in some cases and Is not and over heating issues because this will happen at the begging of my shoot maybe 20 shots in. I contacted adorama and they said to change the stand by setting on the trigger to off and I did but the issue still continues it. Any advice or has anyone has come across with the same issue? Also I am NOT using rechargeable batteries

Great video! Unfortunately my flash arrived today, turns out the test button doesn't do anything :( There's only one way you can insert the bulb so you can't miss, and the modelling lamp seems to work fine. Flash however, doesn't seem to work. Very unfortunate that a new unit would come with a faulty bulb...

I don't see it in the AD400 Pro's menu but I'm asking anyway. Is there a Group Shooting function in this light? I know the AD600s have it (where multiple people can shoot with one light at their own power settings easily).

Group mode is a function of the triggers and speedlights (transmitters), not a function of the the lights (receivers).

Thanks for this tutorial. However, I can’t figure out how to attach the ad400 to my godox softbox - with or without the Bowens ring. Can you perhaps make a video for this? There is absolutely nothing on the internet about this.

Provided you have a compatible (bowens or Godox mount), it's really as straight forward as lining it up and rotating it.

I recently started using a Canon R5, along with a Flashpoint XPLOR 400 Pro & R2 Pro MarkII. . I've updated ALL the firmware in every device in the chain, but for some reason I still keep getting misfires every 2nd or 4th shot (or not flash at all). . I've also scanned for the best frequencies on the trigger, switched to also using the "ID", use Mechanical Shutter (below the Sync Speed), and I stick to "One Shot" Focus mode & single point focus. . Once I turn the audible beep on, for the XPLOR 400, I can hear the trigger and light communicating but no flash (full battery). Any suggestions?🤔

Hi Robert, I received my units...I set my camera on interval for every 3 seconds, set the AD 400 on 100% to see how many pops I would get. It failed miserably at about 45 pops it took 10 seconds on average just to recycle. Then the temperature warning came on so I just turned it off. I did the same test with my second unit I purchased same results. Not very impressive in my humble opinion. What is your opinion?

"Flashpoint" is Adorama's (NYC Camera Store) exclusive label/brand for all Godox model. They're literally one in the same. So, yes, AD 400 PRO = Flashpoint Xplor 400. If you live in the US, you can get the warranty and support from Adorama when you purchase Flashpoint lights.

Would love any help for my problem with the Flashpoint Xplor AD 400 Pro: I am using a Canon 5DSR and the R2 SP trigger. The problem occurs like this: I will set the light to manual, wireless is on, Group A, Channel 1, and the light is set to 1/2 power. I trigger the light and if fires. But then the power will switch to another setting like 1/64th power. I want it to stay at the setting I set it too. It is extremely cumbersome to constantly have to switch the power setting back to 1/2 power. Could you please tell me how to make the power setting stay where I set it?

Change your channel. Another product using 2.4 GHz wireless is interfering. It should not change unless you change it.

Hey Rob, Have you had any issues with the mounting bracket on these lights not holding a large softbox? When I try to mount anything larger than a 25" beauty dish the light starts to sag because the bracket can't support the weight. I'm trying to find a solution to prevent this. Any thoughts?

I don't have an issue with it. Yes, it requires more tightening than a small modifier, but I don't have a problem keeping it's position with larger modifiers. Although I will admit, the 400 pro does not tend to be a key light in my studio setups very often because I'm more likely to use our 1200 Pros / 600 Pros first. You can always replace the slick blue washer with a rubber one like I did on the 300 pro mounts.

You can, but I wouldn't. It's not a good color temperature, not very powerful, and has a loud fan respective to it's brightness.

Is there a way to use ttl mode like a lightmeter? Fire one shot in ttl and switch to manual mode before second shot to dial in your exposure. Unfortunately the ad400 modes doesn’t „talk“ to each other. Or am I missing something here?

That would be the TCM feature (tcm convert manual). It's available on certain transmitters, but honestly with the amount of button presses required, it's faster to just start at 1/16 in manual and go from there. The reason the modes don't talk to each other (carry over TTL power to manual) is because of manual memory. It remembers the last manual power setting you were at, because some triggers the only way to turn a group off is to cycle between off, ttl, M. If it carried the TTL signal in that scenario you would lose your manual power setting every time you disabled and re-enabled a group.

@@robhallphoto thank you. This is what I was looking for. But it seems there is no dedicated tcm function for ad400 only flashlight, 200j, 350j and 600j. 600j and 360j work quite good but not perfect. And it seems there is no firmware upgrade to get 400j into the menu.

@@larsfranzen511 there is a new XPro trigger coming out and it’s got the TCM for speedlite, 100j, 200j, 300j, 400j and 600j. It’s being launched for Leica cameras first but Godox have said they will come out for the other brands after.

No, you should not do that. Anyone who says you can is wrong, it's in the manual not to as it creates battery instability.
