I took an x100v plus Godox Lux Senior to a local comic con. Everyone happy to be photographed with it, and the flash is really quite effective. I turned exposure comp to -2/3, flash power to 1/64 or sometimes 1/32, and got nicely lit images with a darkened background.

Thanks for the comment. I actually have a small event this weekend I am taking it to. Super excited to see how well it does and people's reaction to it.

I'm really trying to decide if I should pick this up. I'm heavily invested in the Godox/Flashpoint family of strobes and speedlights . Godox already has a mini TTL speedlight (I have the Flashpoint version R2 mini with removable lithium battery) that is proven to be amazing when I don't need or feel my V1 or 860. And I can bounce it. Use it as a trigger. But what keeps me thinking about this Lux are 2 things. The cool looks that seem to make people more open to being photographed and the physical manual dial. I'm more of a visual learner and I'm thinking I would learn more about manual flash using this . But a non removable battery also means a very finite life for the flash itself. Once that battery goes out you're tossing the flash. So I need to decide because it's on sale at Adorama for $99.

I agree with everything you say. Non removable battery means exactly what you say. When its dead your out until you recharge it. The cool looks will draw a crowd I assure you and it is basically a manual flash. At least I find it works best that way. I will say that it isn't something that adds to my Godox arsenal. It is kind of a stand alone thing. It isn't a trigger for other lights although other lights can fire it. The size is wonderful and like you said the look draws people in. For the price, it is worth it in my opinion. It is fun to use and for direct on camera flash I have found the results surprisingly pleasing. If it was $250+ I would have a different opinion. Thanks for the comment.

I'm enjoying the Lux Senior. The color balance is too cool for me, so I've fashioned a slip-on 1/4 CTO sleeve. I also sprayed the reflector white. This gives me a more even and wider coverage with less fall-off.

Oooooo, spraying the refector white is an interesting idea. I can see it being more even, how does it look?!

@@Todd_Kuhns The light becomes softer and more like a beauty dish. Definitely softer shadow edges.

hey todd, definitely a fun looking flash that's for sure. I have been using the godox junior on my panasonic lumix S5 full frame camera for the past month and yes its best used in a fill-flash situation. with a bit of practice I'm getting excellent results. I do a lot of cityscape night shooting currently and it really shines here, (I just couldn't pass up on the pun). on the junior the power is from 2 triple A batteries an because I'm using it almost exclusively as fill-flash the batteries don't drain quickly. zen billngs

Awesome, thanks for the input on that. The junior looks interesting to me as well. May end up with it eventually as well!

I just ordered it, I think it'll be a perfect travel flash, as much as I love my Flashpoint round-head speed lights and bigger strobes, taking them with me to the beach and theme parks just to use as a fill flash is so bulky and annoying, I think this little flash I can just throw in a bag, and take some neat pictures in bright sunlight with software shadows or at night on it's lowest setting... I wish it could be tilted for bouncing though

The fact that it doesn't tilt or swing is a hinderance but I don't look at it as that type of flash. It is as you say, simple, small, easy to travel with and does a decent job. A surprisingly decent job. I was using it the other day shooting things in my backyard. Flowers, insects, things that were no more than five feet away and was getting f8 at 1/16 or even 1/32 power.

"Back in the day" every flash photographer carried a clean handkerchief in a pocket to take the hot used flash bulb out of the flash gun and to put a new one in without getting sweat and oil on it. I'd do the same if I had a Godox Senior. No t-shirt required.

hey wanna ask,since this lux sr is mainly built fr direct flash,is there any possible way to use it as bounce flash/off camera flash func? like is it comes with receiver features or smthg like that?
@Todd_Kuhns
@Todd_Kuhns 5 ай бұрын
Good question. I have not used it this way but yes, there is a "S1" and "S2" setting and I believe with one of them or both, I don't remember exactly, they can be fired from another flash. It is not a radio signal but the lux sees the flash and simply goes off. Thanks for watching.

Hello, how do I know if the charge is finished? There is no indicator light that indicates it?
@Todd_Kuhns
@Todd_Kuhns Жыл бұрын
That is a great question and I don't think there is a way to know. I haven't found any indicator to let you know who much charge is left. I will say that I have yet to run it out but I have also have not used this light for anything heavy. I do use it at weddings but have not used it for an entire reception. Thanks for the question.
