I have bought the AD200 before the AD300. I absolutely love the AD300 Pro. And then, I have just bought the AD100 Pro and my days with a Speedlight for closeup and macros are over. The Modeling Lamp simply kills it!!! This thing is so small and easy to to pack for a Macro shoot outdoors and anywhere to tabletop. I have just discovered how easy the screw thread fittings work to attach to with my Gorilla Tri-Pods... AWESOMELY! 😎

@tugwilson4 жыл бұрын
Bit of a disappointment. At $299 I'd expect Stable Colour Temperature mode and the ability to use Godox Mount modifiers. Having to use the S2 bracket negated any size advantage the light has. Making it more expensive than the V1 is a puzzling decision the power difference is negligible in practice its only advantage over the V1 is the fan. If I use the V1 off camera I have 4g more weight and 70mm more length but I have a backup speedlight/trigger for free. Also does the S2 bracket obstruct the fan vent?

I was an early adopter of the ad200 as a matter of fact when it was released I bought it within the week, I have 2 of them love those flashes, took me through many a wedding. I recently bought the AD300 pro love that flash more than my 200's. However I cannot recommend this flash at the price of the AD200, especially when the 200 has so much flexibility.

like most companies, Godox starts with a great product at a GREAT price and puts the other bullshit overpriced companies to shame. I love that Godox pushes for innovation while undercutting the competition. But as they slowly strive to become industry leaders, I'm nervous that they will become just like the Bowens brand (RIP), or the over-priced Profoto brand. This strobe is a very nice piece of gear, but let's not act as if the price wouldn't have been much lower back when they first started manufacturing gems like this. Godox, we love you. I have never undertood the hype or point of the V1. It's less powerful than the way cheaper V860ii or other top speedlight from Nikon or Canon. The only advantage it has, is a soft roll-off of the light. But I never use flash straight into a subject. And if I do, it's just to subtle lighten up shadows on a sunny day. A fill light, where you can't even notice the light, let alone a soft round fall-off. Now, for practical use, this AD100 has more use and can work along with other dedicated Godox studio lights. Or use a V860ii.

It can mount on a light stand or clamp without extra accessories, and it is more compact than the V1 or AD200. It will be excellent for supplementing the ambient light in a scene, so editorial and real-estate photographers should like it. If you are looking for something to use with a soft box or beauty dish, you probably will be happier with one of the larger Godox flashes that has more power and a built-in accessory mount.

I remind you that it was you who questioned my work by insinuating that you belonged to the race of professionals who use "right tool" and that "people like me are messing around with these phones" What you call a "computerized finish" is the result of learning Zbrush, Maya, Photoshop and other skills that from what I see you are not willing to add to your own skills. You only go around there presuming that you are a "professional" because you have a nice camera. But you have a lot to learn if you wants to stand out in a world where people with their mobiles make better and better images. Better photos than you. But don't worry, you can learn it on my youtube channel if you at least know a second language like Spanish.
@jlwilliams4 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's unreasonable to wish for a flash that would work with phones, but almost everybody else is in the past century too. The only studio flash I know of that works with mobile phones is the very expensive Profoto one, and even that has limitations on what phones will work with it. Actually, Godox tried to do it before Profoto with its M1 (which contained a tiny flash and a Bluetooth interface for other Godox flashes, and worked with a special Godox camera app.) I had an M1, and it sort of worked with my phone, but it was very limited, mostly because phone cams have serious “rolling shutter” issues (meaning the flash would expose only part of the frame) and because the phone couldn't stop down its lens enough or reduce its ISO setting enough to balance flash with ambient light. I would love to know the technical side of how Profoto makes it work... I suspect their flash uses special timing circuitry, which would drive up the price beyond what most Godox customers would want to pay. It would be great if Godox came up with a cost-effective solution, but now that they are offering so many LED lights (some of which have a “high intensity” mode for still photography) I suspect they would rather that people use those for phone photography.

Godox needs to improve on - Mobile phone app (I can't trigger the flash from phone, I can only adjust the power output). - Firmware update (I still can't update my AD200 PRO using a Mac). Adorama is also not putting any effort around this. I guess they don't see any financial benefit in maintaining the whole system (hardware, software, integration etc), which is why their iOS app is a crap and their firmware update system is no more than a trash.

Godox, stop using TTL in all your flashes! Photographers don't need TTL! You need a device with a separate head, with a separate power supply (replaceable, with different batteries, different capacities). The flash lamp must be outside the device housing! Get closer to the focus of the reflector! We need two inexpensive and reliable devices for 400-600-800 and 100-300 joules! From 1/1 to 1/128 and better to 1/256! Make such devices!
