Great recommendations. Thank you. There is a better way to install a softbox into a bowens mount. Don't pick up softbox itself. First, install a light onto softbox while a softbox is face down on the floor with the mount up. And then you'll have something to grab-light or handle-to pick the whole thing up and put it on a c-stand. That's a much faster and easier way instead of trying to install a huge softbox while light is on the c-stand.

Yes. On the floor is also a great way . I actually do that sometimes . Since most surfaces I shoot are not clean, such as outdoors, factories and other industrial environments I mount as shown. Thanks for watching 🙂.

one tip, in the para 88 instructions from Broncholor ( the video with the lady in it), they assemble the bracket to the para on the floor, then heave the thing onto your shoulder, facing rearwards, your shoulder is the pivot point, and all the fiddling you have to do is drop the socket on the c-stands pin, and do up the screw, no having to align the slots & twist the whole modifier. far easier on ones back, legs, arms etc. esp if you do it all day.

The parabolic thing that with the “rods” and all, I did it for “fun”. No one will use this softbox for that. And it’s not a true parabola shape. You’ll be paying at least $1000 for one. Godox also makes it, designed for photography. Godox Parabolic 88 Reflector (35.4")

Since this a parabolic reflector, can you please comment on the quality of parallel light when used as a parabolic reflector with the light source set in the focus point?! Because there are "cheap" paras out there being 10times or more expensive than this one.
@ArtVideoProductions
@ArtVideoProductions 2 жыл бұрын
To get an actual parabolic light source really designed for that you’ll have to pay at least $1500 to $9,000 for 1. Godox makes them too at affordable price while Broncolor can cost you a lot. The parabolic thing I showed here is for fun.

A very extensive video. You seem to be a very meticulous person. Since you mentioned that with double layer of diffusion it wont actually behave like a parabola, should I get a Godox SB-UE120 softbox for my Godox SL200Wii video light?
@ArtVideoProductions
@ArtVideoProductions 2 жыл бұрын
Comparing the godox godox SB-UE120 to this one, I still prefer the Qr-P120. The only thing you can buy to produce a parabolic effect would be the Broncolor Para series. If you want to “play “ parabolic, you can do what I’ve shown in the video. But for regular diffusion and less of a deep softbox, the godox SB-UE120 seems to be a good choice as well. Either one Godox models are kinda pricey too…

@@ArtVideoProductions Thanks for your guidance. It seems unlikely that QR120 would see a lot of travel. Today I ended up with a cheaper solution. Inspired by the style of usage for a parabolic umbrella in your video, I aimed my SL200Wii upwards into an umbrella style 120 inch softbox,meant for a speedlight and the result was so nice. It seems I might not even need any other 120cm softbox as of now.

Wonderful review, very thorough. I have just a few questions if I may; 1) I realise in order to take advantage of the parabolic nature of the P120 we should use a rod like you demonstrate, but having 2 stands (one for the P120 and another in front of it for rod) is too much. What kind of 'all in one' rods and stands can you buy that would allow something from an AD200-AD600 to slide up and down the rod but also be part of the whole light stand rig? 2) The sample shots at the end with the subject, this was with diffusion, yes? 3) Can the box be collapsed with the inner diffusion left on as well as the other? Or will it kinda 'fall off' as the box is compressed down? This looks like a good modifier, something that 'can do it all', just trying to figure out really the other parts I may need to make it all come together now.
@ArtVideoProductions
@ArtVideoProductions 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the love. Yes, all diffusers remain insure like shown. The rod thing is not really for normal softboxes. These are really, really expensive starting at $1500 from Godox and $6000 from Broncolor. Yes, all shots at the end were takes with the softbox in normal use. Diffusers on.
