Godox V1 vs V1 Pro | Worth The Upgrade?

Great Video. Trying the V1 pro this weekend at an event. Been using the V1's for 3/4 years so I'll see if I can notice a difference.

@ I feel like I did! But not that huge of a difference. I feel like my images were more consistent but I shoot in manual flash settings, so I could have been more on my game as far as the settings though. I would say, if you don't have a flash or are upgrading a broken flash, then pay the extra for the v1pro. if you have a v1 already, no need to upgrade. The V1p does work with the original V1 batteries, but drains it way quicker. A normal V1 battery on the V1 would last me like 3-4 events. The pro with the v1 battery was already showing it was draining after half the event, so if you get the pro you would want to get the new battery too if you need some backups

I have them both and the V1 Pro is a signifiant upgrade. I am a wedding photographer and the light consistency is much better on the V1 Pro. Also using as off camera flash the v1 Pro recycles faster then the V1. Lastly the battery that has the USB-C charge on it can also be charged while in the flash and you can continue to use the flash with it plugged up. Not a major need but it has come in handy.

used them both at an event last night. the v1 was great. Amazing as always. the v1pro was over exposing all my shots. super frustrating. I used both in TTL. im not new to this. so im considering returning the pro

@ super frustrating for sure. I'll be looking at my images to see if I can get these highlights and exposure down hopefully not everything is ruined out of my main camera. I use the two camera set up with a flash on each

@@diegodominguez205 I use the Godox X2T. But there’s a pro trigger also. It’s really up to you. I can’t reasonably recommend anything outside of the x2t because that’s the only one I’ve used. But it’s great

i have the Godox x2T but i changed my trigger to Godox X3s. its rechargeable, tiny , has touch screen feature and i love it. not bulky.

@ super nice. I went with the x2t because I liked the option to have a flash on the trigger for on camera while simultaneously having off camera. But now that I have the v1 it’s kinda pointless. Ima check out the x3s

Hi, thanks for the video! I’ve been thinking about upgrading, but I’m still considering it. I was hoping you could offer some advice. I use the R2 Mark II and a VI, and I often experience misfires when using the VI on-camera. Could you please advise on how I can fix this issue? Thanks!

@@Deleoduwole it depends on the recycle time. If you’re shooting full power it takes longer to recycle than if you’re shooting at a lower power

@@Deleoduwole Misfires can be recycle related or a hotshoe connection issue. Make sure your V1 is seated in the hotshoe correctly - best read up on that issue depending on the camera brand you have. Also, with Canon, make sure Silent LV Shoot is off. With Sony: disable EFCS, disable silent shutter, disable Wireless Flash, enable Fill Flash... to name a few. Nikon is similar.

Good comparison, thanks. The detachable thing on the front of the Pro is a fill light, not a modelling light. The modelling light (which they both have) is a continuous LED light, inside the head that is designed to show you where the light (and shadows) fall, when the flash goes off. It's pretty hard to judge that with the super short duration of the flash itself, so it is a good feature.

I had the v1 on the sony a7 iv and a7 iii and it was just very inconsistent, and now i switched to canon r5 ii and got the v1 pro and i just want to say that the v1 pro is perfect, the light is consistent, natural. I don’t know if my sony copy had problems or not but many friends said their v1 was inconsistent on all camera brands.
