I have similar system, only it under the Flashpoint brand name. The flashes are the Zoom Li-On R2 model with the large rechargeable batteries. These flashes are extremely powerful and support only group A,B & C as does the actual trigger transmitter.. I'm wondering why your transmitter supports 5 groups.
@RobTrek5 жыл бұрын
I'll have to ask my buddy who just bought the flashpoint versions. He got the r2 pro trigger, ad600 and ad400. Curious to see if the groups are limited to just 3 on his. My flashes are limited to 3 groups, but the triggers seem to have many more.
@rickbear72494 жыл бұрын
Another superbly simple explanation of a complex subject, Rob. You really are a fantastic teacher. Just one question on the Zoom Mode? I presume "zoom" refers to the focal length of the lens? If so, does it matter that focal lengths in micro 4/3rds are 2x their full-frame equivalents? BTW, I was thinking of buying the more expensive pro Trigger, which is said to be easier to use. But, after watching your really clear simple explanation, I don't think the X1T is all that complicated. Actually, you made it sound very simple. Thanks, Rick
@RobTrek4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Honestly I've never gotten a clear answer on the focal length for the zoom. However, based on the wide 24mm setting, it appears to be equivalent to 12mm on our camera in my testing. In practice, I found zooming in is really trial and error regardless.

Wow, what at amazing video Rob, I was holding off until I actually had the XT1 and the TT350 which I now have and I'm glad I did, you explained it all really well although I was a little worried at the start when you were talking about a 3 flash light setup as my experience level is barely at the using one at all at the moment. Just need to experiment now with using them together. Do you have any videos which show you actually using this combination on a subject e.g. in determining whether TTL is best, or Manual is best and then when you would use fill in flash or first/2nd curtain? Thanks again Rob and Stay Safe.

Hi Rob. My question to you is when I open the RC mode on, I can not see the Super Control Panel on the screen like you do in the video when I press the OK button. How can I set that? And for those who don't know how to use Godox X1T, make sure this; your flash setting has to be on before you turn on the RC mode on. I thought when I switched on the RC mode it was ready to use Godox X1T Radio trigger. But no. And the second important thing which is harder than figure out that 'all devices must be on the same channel' is if your camera stayed in a silent mood, you can not use the flash trigger again. I hope this information will be helpful to someone. Because I struggled a lot :(

Thanks for the feedback. Which camera do you have? I will look into this.
@brycepowell57705 жыл бұрын
Hi Rob, can you please explain what the single contact mode setting is used for (in custom functions)? The manual states: "It is advisable to set the transmitter to single contact mode when using it to trigger the flash by PC cord or through camera’s single contact". Not sure what they mean here. Any insight is appreciated. In one of your earlier videos, you demonstrate using a flash on the trigger's hotshoe, but I am sure you would have mentioned this setting if it was relevant in any way. Cheers
@RobTrek5 жыл бұрын
Single contact just means the camera will only singnal the trigger or flash through one of the electrical contacts on the hot shoe - the center largest contact. Meaning it will not send any ttl or exposure information to the trigger that might effect the flash output and exposure. This way the camera settings and the flash settings will be independent of each other.

Double check the channel and group numbers match on the flash and trigger. Make sure you have "Fill-In" flash set in-camera. Push the "test" button on top of the x1t and be sure the flash fires - this will confirm you have channel and group set correctly. Try setting the flash for manual at 1/1 power and see if it fires when you push the trigger. Let me know if any of that works.

Does the X1T-Olympus trigger work with Godox TT350 flashes that are not made for Olympus? Meaning, can I buy a TT350N flash that was made for Nikon and use it on my Olympus MFT camera system?
@RobTrek3 жыл бұрын
I would say yes. Although I haven't tested that combination specifically, when I was on a photowalk with the club, a Sony user was shooting with a godox x1t trigger and flashes. I had to switch channels because his trigger kept firing my flashes and visa versa. Also, the larger godox studio flashes don't come in specific models like AD-400s and yet my Godox X1T-o triggers fire them. TTL works with the studio flashes as well.

I still like the tt350 as a small flash. There is a lithium ion battery version out now that recycles faster and probably lasts longer. There are larger flashes like the V1 with the round head. It has a magnetic mount to attach accessories. I prefer to use this flash with the radio trigger off-camera.
@evenaicantfigurethisout4 жыл бұрын
How do you know which power to use? I have just bought the tt350 and x1t for the G85. Say I use 1/128 flash power. How many stops do I have to dial down the exposure in camera to compensate ? Is there a way to check that my compensation was spot on without the use of a Lightmeter after taking the shot? After compensation say I find the subject is exposed properly because the flash is falling on him or her. Now the background is too dark. How can j make it so the background landscape (on which the flash is not falling) is still exposed properly? I'm assuming all this compensation would be a function of distance from flash to subject. How did one factor that in?
@RobTrek4 жыл бұрын
For the first exposure, it's very hard to know without a lightmeter. I do a few test shots to get it right. If the background is too dark, you need to let more ambient light in. Usually you can just slow the shutter speed down without affecting the flash's exposure. If you're already at 1/60th, then you have to reduce flash power and increase iso and/or aperture in equal stops. Conversely, if the background it too bright, you can increase shutter speed (hence popularity of HSS) or add an nd filter, but then you need to increase flash power. This is were you may need a more powerful flash than the tt350.

I like working in other rooms that are more natural as you pointed out, but there are too many noisy distractions. I live on a main street and behind a highway where big trucks and motorcycles are constantly interrupting my recordings. Also, my dog has free roam of the house and she barks a lot. Rob I must be doing something wrong but what I just don't know what. I have EMD M1X Godox X1T and Godox 350o. The camera is checked for flash fill in, it is switched on. The X1T is switched on and mounted on the camera with A TTL CH 1 displayed, I have zero'd all the other channels. The 350o is set to A TTL, the antenna is showing followed by S CH 1, the lens is 60mm so I set zoom to 50mm. When I focus and shoot the flash does not fire. If I remove the X1T and put the 350 on the flash gun it fires and gives good TTL exposure. Do you know what is wrong any advice would be much appreciated.

Does the flash fire when you push the test button on the x1t trigger? Doesn't matter if it's on the camera or not but this will confirm the channel and group are matched. If so, then make sure you've mounted the x1t all they way into the hot shoe, it can feel like it's all the way in but it's not sometimes. Let me know.

@@RobTrek No the gun doesn't fire, the red light on the X1T illuminates. (I checked the latter was fully engaged in the hot shoe).

On the x1t trigger display, is TTL next to the Group letter "A"? Or "m" with some fraction to the right like "1/1". If you see no "TTL" or "m" and only "--" then the flash won't fire.

@@RobTrek Rob the x1t indicates A TTL (and CH1)

Only other thing I can think of at this point is to make sure you are using the X1T-O trigger. There will be a painted letter "O" on top of the trigger under the letters "2.4g".

I can't get mine to link with the flash...

Hi. Make your you have the letter "O" on all your Godox gear. For example "X1To" and "TT350o". These will work on both Olympus and Panasonic. Let me know. Thanks.

@@kevinjack5184 That looks right. Are you having trouble with the trigger firing the flash? If so, make sure the Channel and Groups are matched up and that you have the wireless receiver turned on in the flash.

20 minutes to learn how to sync?
@RobTrek3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I'm not sure I understand your question. If the video is too long, you can play back at 2x speed. If you don't understand what sync means or the difference between high speed sync, syncing in ttl vs manual mode, or in slave mode, then I didn't explain it well in this video.
