If you internalize the range and timing of certain attacks you can basically walk around them and hit your opponent through it. You can also do this by subverting your opponent's expectations of where you are going, causing them to hit the air and look stupid. By predicting this, you can hit where they will land and get a free attack off. Deepwoken is a 3d fighting game, base movement, as in just WASD is actually really good.

you can only aerial uppercut when you arent holding down a directional key like "W" because it'd otherwise be counted as an aerial m1

Is using roll cancels for movement rly that viable? I m quite bad at the game and whenever i fight some strong players they keep catching me on wasting all my rolls

roll cancelling for movement is a little more advanced because you have to parry at the same time which may be hard for some players
