I loved your review! Yeah 98 Godzilla gets way too much smack, way way more than it deserves. It's my personal favorite Godzilla movie and it will always have a special place in my heart.

​​​@@AlbaAlbtross while I agree godzilla can be portrayed in different ways, one has to be different AND familiar. In the eyes of many godzilla fans, this godzilla was too different to be familiar in any sense. Gmk goji was supernatural, godzilla earth is a plant based organism, godzilla ultima is interdimensional. These 3 for example are all different in their own ways but still maintain the core key elements of what makes godzilla, godzilla. These key elements being immunity to most conventional weaponry. Fighting back against humans (and when I say fight back, I mean head on, not running away then attack afterwards). Designs that still have godzilla standing upright while having their own unique features and still having him fight other kaiju when necessary. Even godzilla the series knew how to be different and familiar when it used this same 98 design but gave said godzilla traditional godzilla powers. If Roland wanted to portray godzilla in a different but faithful manner than he could of done what the animated series. Different design but classic godzilla abilities and so on. Instead Roland just had little to no respect for the character and wanted to change godzilla into something he could work with, regardless if it lacked any respect for what came before. Godzilla is versatile but there are still limits to his versatility as a character. While I love g98, I love it more so as it's own thing (beast from 20,000 fathoms remake in a nutshell) and while I would rather watch g98 over some godzilla films I find bad or boring, that doesn't mean I'll consider g98 faithful. In fiction, you got bad but faithful takes on something and just misrepresented takes on something. Godzilla's revenge for example is the former, g98 is the latter.

(warning ⚠️ my comment has a lot of text) The movie is bad but its first act is peak of perfection (at least for me, and I'm not the only one who thinks that), although as it progresses it becomes more disastrous, I still love this movie and I feel that the complaints and criticisms of this movie are already getting old (and bad), this movie is my guilty pleasure, And like it or not, this movie introduced Godzilla to new generations and reached countries that did not know the character (something similar to the Star Wars prequels that already have a whole generation that grew up with them) it is a good monster movie (although not a very good Godzilla movie) don't believe me?, that's what the director of Godzilla Minus One said!, in his words: "1998's Godzilla was pretty well put together and a fun movie, but I can understand people who also say this isn't Godzilla," I think as a Kaiju horror movie, it's pretty well executed." -Takashi Yamazaki As a final note I will add that the credits song aged like milk due to Puff Diddy's "situation" 💀
