Godzilla 2000 Solo Unmade Film

Time to look at another one of the unmade scripts, drafts, and ideas from Godzilla. This time, its from the Millennium Eras Godzilla 2000. An early idea from director Takao Okawara. This idea would have Godzilla 2000 set as a solo outing, no Orga, just Godzilla versus Mankind!

I liked the mixture that we received in G2k. I would definitely love to see Godzilla take on all the nations of the world in the next solo film though. Having a huge Goji-earth sized Godzilla take on the might of all of mankind would be epic and scary!

I didn't notice that Godzilla 2000: Millennium was originally going to have Godzilla not fighting Orga but rather have Godzilla to be solo monster much like the original 1954 movie and 1984 movie.

Before orga was chosen as the kaiju goji would fight there were multiple other choices They were:Rodan,King Ceaser,Anguirus,Zilla,Kumanga and kamacurus but toho later decided it will be better if they make a new kaiju instead

Zilla? I remember hearing back when Jan De Bont was directing, they tossed around ideas for Toho's Godzilla vs TriStar's Godzilla before Bont left the project. So it would've been interesting to see an entire movie with Godzilla 2000 fighting Roland Emmerich's Godzilla.

I feel like this would've been a great idea. Having Godzilla fight humans but instead of attacking the millennians aliens, the JSDF would enlist their help in hoping their alien technology could defeat Godzilla but even when they combine the powers of alien technology and human technology, it would prove only minimum effect and Godzilla quickly regenerate then ignite every part of the area and leave and humans also somehow realised that the aliens are here to conquer and since they needed Godzilla to turn into their original form(Orga), they have run out of any weapons so the JSDF force them to retreat. In the Post-credit scene the JSDF have the skeleton remains of the original Gojira that attacked them in 1954 and they have decided that they will construct a giant robot like Godzilla(Kiryu). Then meanwhile next year it has been revealed that this new Godzilla actually attacked Japan as far as in 1966 then again in 1996 then again in 1999 Christmas at the start of 2000 Millennium. A group called the G-Graspers create a mini black-hole which allows a giant insect Meganulon from another time(Rodan in 1956) to come. Millennians upon realising this quickly take its control and turn them into Meganula and they suck Godzilla's energy and give them to their queen Megaguirus who fights Godzilla although isn't completely successful, manages to give some of the G-Cells to the aliens and dies. Then the millennians transform into Orga who gives Godzilla a tough battle but Godzilla unleashes a devastating nuclear pulse which decapitated Orga and killing the aliens ending their raid on Earth then Godzilla destroys Tokyo just like the last time but is sent into a black hole. Thinking he's gone forever, they celebrate but then Godzilla comes from the underground the next day and then completely decimates Japan before going to the ocean. In the Post-credit scene set 2 years later, Kiryu is ready to fight Godzilla but with the soul of Gojira. The events of the Kiryu Saga happen but Godzilla 2000: Millennium(which is not a solo film) and Godzilla vs Megaguirus(where Orga also appears instead of G2K) are canon. Before they release Kiryu, they have talks with the G-Graspers on how did there Black Hole failed after which they released Kiryu. So, that's my Millennium continuity of Godzilla which I really like. Chronological order Gojira(1954) Radon(1956) Mosura(1961) Space Amoeba(1970) Godzilla 2000: Millennium(1999)(set in 2000) Godzilla vs Megaguirus(2000)(set in 2001) Godzilla x MechaGodzilla(2002)(set in 2003) Godzilla x Mothra x MechaGodzilla: Tokyo SOS(2003)(set in 2004) The reason I made this is cause I although loved the millennium era of Godzilla but I didn't like how nearly every film is a reboot and this would allow to have continuity.

There's almost no chance that - if they went ahead with this idea - it would have resulted in sequels, as after they moved on from a VS series continuation, the intention was to create a trilogy of unconnected "alternate universe" style movies. The other two directors had overlapping development on their films, evidenced by Kaneko's initial idea of Godzilla X Kamacuras being cooked up before he was even aware of that Tezuka was also planning to use an insect as Godzilla's opponent. Basically it's a Millennium trilogy from which Toho picked their favorite director and gave him the series from there... except for GFW which was a special case. My favorite idea from the development of G2k is for the alien monster to just be a big CGI bubble. It sounds so weird and interesting and so so so so VERY turn of the millennium that I kinda hate I missed it. I mean I enjoy Orga's use as a response to Zilla, with the face and the trying to become a copy of Godzilla thing, that was very timely and fun, but outside of that Orga's just not as interesting as a monster. My favorite things about the Millennians in the film are actually the creepy "Millennium Kingdom" stuff and the very very '99 silver CGI spaceship almost 4 times the size of Godzilla. Godzilla vs. the military of multiple nations at once sounds like a really fresh way to spice up the frankly mostly uninteresting Godzilla vs. military idea... but honestly I would take Orga over that any day. But the weird alien bubble thing? That's the real missed opportunity.

The other great thing about the CG bubble concept was that it featured Junior and continued the Heisei series. I would've loved to see this idea realized.

I doubt the solo film was gonna have Japan win. Cuz remember, Godzilla has regeneration and 2000 further elaborated it more than the Heisei series did. And the full metal missiles while caused pain, couldn’t kill him as he was regenerating within mere seconds after each time he was damaged. Showing no amount of overwhelming fire power can even put him down. That’s how fast he heals. And considering how many times he was hit relentlessly, any other kaiju would have died. But not Godzilla, of course. 😏 He was constantly healing himself during mid-battle. Those were going straight through him and kept on going like it wasn’t a big deal. Also Godzilla destroying Japan at the end of G2000: Millennium was a perfect way to end the film. Showing that mankind can’t kill him with any weapons and have to accept the fact, that he is an unstoppable force of nature. So even without Orga, the film would have ended the same as it did in the finished film. Toho wouldn’t want to kill Godzilla after just now bringing back the franchise. That would be dumb. Especially, when they would want to make more films after. Cuz sequels were planned then. Even though they went with rebooting him instead.

I like both but i think we're overdue for a solo Godzilla film. Seeing Godzilla destroying buildings in gvk made me feel excited. It was awesome to see Godzilla as a bad guy again and id love to see him in that role again

@@jackrogers5712 my 2 favorite endings for Godzilla movies were Godzilla 2000 and Godzilla vs king Ghidorah. After defeating the other monster Godzilla just starts attacking tokyo himself lmao i love it

I've always wanted a solo Godzilla film that showed us the viewpoint of a non-military, non-government, non-private-scientific-agency everyman just trying to survive the onslaught, but always being caught in the middle. I feel like knowing too much about the monster and how we retaliate against it takes away from the monster's mysticism. I'd hoped Legendary's Godzilla would've been about that - remember the original trailers? They had the feel of a Godzilla horror movie; Him, against us, the the human's inability to understand the situation. ...I do looove kaiju fights though. When they're good, they're GOOD.

Heisei Godzilla is only protecting the earth from other monsters. The Millennium Godzilla is a giant Irradiated Prehistoric Amphibious Reptile. Height: 55 meters tall.

I think the current monsterverse is amazing and does an incredible job with other monsters , I would love to see a standalone Godzilla movie by himself movie but I don't think its possible in this current monsterverse . Now Shin Godzilla did give us an epic different take on a standalone which was awesome !!

Millenium is easily in the top 2 eras for me. I am not counting Tristar or Shin since both have one movie. I also am not counting Legendary since It is ongoing and may get better or may get worse. It is close to the Showa for number 1 and although I think Millenium overall are better on average the Showa has some standouts. Unfortunately Heisei with only about 2 to 3 standouts is far behind with so many somewhat lazy plotted, pop culture copied, beam spamming, mid quality entries.
