Saw the film in theaters with my little cousins. Didn't tell them much about Godzilla but that he was one of my favorite monsters from childhood. The looks on their faces during the fight were like me reliving my childhood, and when the atomic breath came up, I had forgot! So all three of us were stunned! It's Big G's most powerful weapon and not only did they save it for the last fight, they used it in such a brutal way, we were jsut awestruck! Wound up paying for the film a second time (without my cousins there), but I had fun, jsut wish there was more Gojira, but I couldnt complain!

While trying to get Godzillas roar just right the sound team borrowed the largest speaker setup in the world and played the roar full blast into a microphone placed about 100m away. The sound was so loud it broke windows on the studio lot, set off car alarms for almost 1mile, and measured on the Richter scale as a 2.1magnitude earthquake.

IRL, Godzilla's roar would be so many decibels that it would be lethal to anyone within blocks of it. The iconic roar was created by rubbing a rosin-covered glove over a bass' strings.
@kylenaversen2 жыл бұрын
For Godzilla's new roar they tried to use the same technique Akira Ifukube the original composer of the classic 1954 Japanese Godzilla, by using a lethal glove rubbing against the double-based instrument, but it didn't feel right to modern audiences and found the results weren't quite right for the era of 12-channel IMAX theaters. They come up with the idea of using metal friction, what filmmakers did is that they used dried ice supercools of certain types of metal, and it starts contracting and vibrating and produces this shrieking and bellowing. For the rumble at the end of the roar, they manipulated recordings of a potted plant raked across the concrete.

This movie came out before Elizabeth Olsen and/or Aaron Taylor-Johnson found their way into the MCU. Probably would've been best to watch this movie first. That's why it's not so awkward to me. Still odd/interesting, but it doesn't ruin Godzilla for me when I go back and watch it since I know this movie released first and I know them originally as an on-screen married couple than siblings.

Over the years, there have been a bunch of depictions of Godzilla, and he's sometimes the savior, sometimes the monster. For instance, in the fairly recent Japanese film Shin Godzilla, he's a terrifying monster, and is supposed to symbolize the Fukushima nuclear disaster. (A large part of that movie is about how bureaucrats didn't get anything done during that disaster)

I love your reactions, they are just great. I love watching reactions and I’ve looked at a lot of people doing them but you’re my favorite. I love you❤❤

Fun Fact: Many of the atomic bomb tests were conducted at a remote island locale in the Marshall Island group known as Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Ocean. The bikini (split 2 part women's swimwear) was the splitting of the upper and bottom portions of the atome (a one piece swimwear) "at Bikini Atoll they split the atom, with the bikini, we split the atome" I'm too young to remember the exact marketing language, but something to that effect was at one point brought to market.

There are dimensions in the Marvel Universe where it's not uncommon for Wanda and Pietro to get down.

The scene at the beginning where Brian Cranston's wife dies is such a sad moment but I laughed my way through this reaction purely because of the Godzilla roar censoring sounds. Great job editor, that shi*"rrroooooarrr" was amazing!

Shin Godzilla is a good version of Godzilla set in Japan and how the government handles poorly a major disaster

If you ever, ever, need a franchise to dig through, Godzilla is the one to check out; 36 films (32 made in Japan) to the meazely 24 of James Bond! Most are guys in rubber suits stomping model cities and tanks with pyrotechniques blowing up all around them (some very close to the suits or on them!) with a range of tone from monster to friend of the children! It also feature some returning monsters for the American movies like Mothra, Rodan and King Gidora amonst others...

I'm not going to get greedy with my expectations, I look forward to her thoughts on this latest installment of films in the Godzilla Universe. But I wonder if she likes the Kaiju films enough, if she'll give Cloverfield and/or Pacific Rim a try in the future. Let's wait and see.

Fun fact, the 2014 Godzilla Alpha roar is made of real animal noises, over 120 animal noises were used, including the original Godzilla.

When you finish with the Monsterverse I recommend Kong 2005 and King Kong 1976. They've both aged very well, 2005 is especially retro charming!

Back in the late '70s, I had most of a series of Godzilla comics from Marvel. And, yes, some of the most famous Marvel characters were there, including The Fantastic Four and The Avengers, while the Helicarrier shadowed him across the continental United States.

The original era of Godzilla movies (The Showa Era) spawned more than a dozen movies between 1954 and 1975. When I was growing up they showed a lot of those movies on TV on Sunday afternoons. In the American versions of the films Godzilla was framed as the hero (unlike the original Japanese films).
