A celebration of Glorious Might of Mighty Glorious Serbian Conquering Armies! Must to be buying for Glory of Mighty Conquering Serbia! (can you tell I'm a little partisan here? I haven't been so excited for a game since SGS released "Heia Safari" about the German SE Afrika Campaign 1014-18!) ZB you picked a unique choice for this unboxing, and I thank you! (my budget, on the other hand...)

Ha! Wow, you definitely are excited about this one! I'm glad you liked the video, very sorry about your wallet! And I was just looking at SGS Heia Safari too, like 3 days ago. I'm looking forward to giving this one a shot. :)

Oh, very cool to know, thanks! They look so ... World War 1. I think the generals mechanic is my favorite in the game, at least from the perspective of looking forward to playing it.

@@joeyj6808 Ha, that is a SPECTACULAR hat. I would follow that man into war, for sure. Really kind of want one of those, to be honest.

Lots of interesting ideas here, I agree. I think this company is one to watch, especially as they gain more and more experience. From connecting with them about Freezing Inferno, I know they are very hard working and sincere.

I find any east front WWI game fascinating. Would like to see one on the Czecheslovakian Corps. They fought all the way to Archangel, then got shipped to the US before finally making it home two years later, circumnavigation the globe!

Cool turn marker! I could see this idea expanded in other games to include pockets to insert event cards. If the flat tokens are an alternative to the stand-ups, that is really cool. I find many games that use minis get unwieldly, counters would be better, but the "market" demands minis. I wish there was always a non-mini option. I like the cards over the dice. Imagine in your Afrika Korps game if you had cards to draw based for Supply. So you have six cards and two of them show the supplies as being lost. Over six turns you know your going to lose twice, but you don't know when. Sure, sometimes you'll know what's left, but overall you don't get the whole game hosed by bad dice. Oooh, that map looks amazing! I'm a fool for excellent maps and quality components, and this game seems to deliver.

Lots of good observations and thoughts as always! I've discovered that the black things are magnets for attaching the strength markers to the unit stands! Aha! Mystery solved. And yeah, I really like the calendar idea. Very cool. :)

I would make multiple deployments for the enemies of Serbia and randomly roll for that deployment. The replay value on that would be pretty high. Interesting looking tokens and such. I have to same the game components look good. I have just started the battle of Ligny from Napoleon's Last Gamble from the Library of Napoleonic Battles series. I decided on a different way to learn the game. I set up the map and in stead of reading the book page for page I decided to learn by going through each sequence of the turn and I found that I am getting the mechanics down rather fast. A lot faster than I did with some of my other games. I definitely like the rule system so far.
@ZillaBlitz
@ZillaBlitz 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I think it'd be easy to generate a handful of set ups to use for playing solitaire, for sure. :) I've gone with a hybrid approach now to learning. Read the rules until I get saturated and can't process any more, then jump in and try to play using the sequence of play. I like this a bit better, but in the end I find I have to go back and read the rules in full to make sure I'm not missing mechanics and edge cases that aren't apparent.

@@ZillaBlitz I do too. I run through the sequences and look up what the rules are and I am finding doing it that way the rules are sticking. In fact I have to head into the hobby room and continue the battle of Ligny!

Zilla, While watching this, and some other reviews, a question popped into my mind: When one imagines refighting a battle or campaign, the parallel that might be more accurate to draw is not whether the exact historical battle gets simulated, but what if the historical commanders, like the players in the game, had knowledge of the historical battle ahead of time. How would they fight then? Austerlitz wouldn't have happened, but what if you handed the combatants a history book the night before Quatre Bras, at the beginning of the Waterloo campaign? What could they have done differently, and what if they also knew that their adversaries received the same book?

Very good points, and it would make for an interesting design challenge for a game, too. I often think of the opposite situation while playing these games, and proudly declare: I am a great general the 12th time I fight the same battle. :)

Just another pass for me from this Company. It’s just too light and euro for me. Doesn’t really seem like it’s a real war game. Their design stuff just hasn’t hooked me and for me this map is pretty much on par with the previous offering and kinda kiddie and cartoonish. Good video though sir.
