The most cited work of German literature (Faust. Eine Tragödie.) tells the story of a German necromancer or astrologer who sells his soul to the devil in exchange for knowledge and power. In this video, I'm going to retell the first part of Faust (Faust. Der Tragödie erster Teil) in a very short summary in easy German for beginners.
Faust is a tragic play in two parts by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and was published in 1808. Although rarely staged in its entirety, it is the play with the largest audience numbers on German-language stages.

In the classroom we are told to endlessly study grammar and memorise concepts, however, research shows that language is acquired through authentic experiences. The concept of Natürlich German is based on Dr. Stephen Krashen's second language acquisition theory, in which one uses comprehensible input to acquire a language, rather than 'learn' it.

Joa, ich weiß nicht ob Faust so das Anfänger Material für Deutsch ist, aber wenn man sich das traut klingt, man am Ende wohl eleganter als jeder Deutsche.

I remember my stepmother in Scotland used to says she didn't want to hear German because too many words sounded like bad words in English. It is funny how the same words we use have such different meaning. Example: Dick (fat) or gift (poison!).. I know if I ever go to Germany, I will never offer anyone there a "Gift" !
