You haven't seen anything yet. This whole '60s film is risible propaganda to prove that Goju in Japan was a true Japanese art under "Great Leader Yamaguchi". Many legitimate photos of Miyagi were plagiarized by the creators of this "mockumentary". The Okinawans knew better and refused to recognize "self-appointed 10th dan" Gogen Yamaguchi as a successor to Chojun Miyagi since the GY never met CM,let alone train with CM nor his students. That is why there is an Okinawan versus "Japanese" Goju Ryu. The classical forms demonstrated are terribly flawed in bio-mechanics and applications. Nonetheless, the upper level katas are safe from misinterpretation by true teachers in Okinawa,Thank God. The rest of this "invented mockumentary" merely shows the "great inspired Grandmaster teaching 'cough' followers" to reach Buddhahood. He portrayed himself as the god of Karate. Totally ridiculous. Last of all,the Japanese government paid for all this _bufoonerie_ to show a vaunted superiority to Chinese defense arts. Regards

The connection between Wing Chun and Karate are tenuous at best. They are 2 very different styles. They do have similar roots. Karate is mostly from Monkfist and White Crane boxing (Naha-te descendant styles. Shuri and Tomari te are probably highly influenced by Siamese Boxing). If I remember correctly, Wing Chun is also from White Crane, however the similarities end there.

@@shankarsatheesan6846 There is absolutely Wing Chun in this style of Goju. I practice Tenshi Goju Kai which was founded by the late Hanshi Lou Angel (studied in Japan under Yamaguchi). Chojun Miyagi (the real Miyagi) was Yamaguchi's teacher, he went to China and learned (at least) Crane style. In my opinion based on studying the art he learned many different style influences while he was there, the foremost being Crane - and we do a TON of overlapping moves with Wing Chun and my sensei claims it's Wing Chun influences, so there is a very clear connection, plus a huge portion of our footwork is very Southern Kung Fu influenced. Basically all of the kicks and basic counterattacks of Wing Chun are included inside our style of Goju - we do Pak Sau as a warmup sometimes (but we don't call it that). There's a clear link between White Crane and Sanchin, but I think there's far more Wing Chun similarities when it comes to our actual boxing because of all the block-grabs and counterattacks. The soft circular movement blocks that we have are definitely White Crane, though (more defensive), whereas our (counter)attacks borrow more from Wing-Chun because it's hard/soft. Our hardest attacks even display similarities with Thai Boxing (we use a lot of knees and elbows), but I'm not sure why - perhaps that came through Naha. There's kata that include clear Dragon influences, Panther, Tiger, Snake (you can't say Tensho is not snake-like, mixed with crane a bit) depending on how we hold our hands and apply different techniques. Most of the outside influences back then aside from Naha are southern Kung Fu. Nowadays there's Aikido, Kendo, Judo, Jujitsu, U.S. Military influences because I train under Sensei Duff(Vietnam Vet), Lou Angel's student(trained marines 20 years).

Why is the music so much louder than the dialogue? Makes it undesirable to view the video.
