Goggle Nik Collection - The FREE version FULL Clean Install Photoshop 2023 for INTEL Mac Monterey
In this video I'll show you how to do a TOTALLY fresh, clean install of the FREE Google Nik Collection on your Intel Big Sur, Monterey (and perhaps Ventura?) Mac for use with Photoshop 2023.
The install takes just a couple of minutes and involves the use of TERMINAL - but don't worry, all you have to do is copy a command line:
SYSTEM_VERSION_COMPAT=1 open "Nik Collection.app"
Paste the above command line, hit enter, and all your install problems are sorted!
Then I'll show you how to avoid the free version Nik Collection crashing Photoshop 2023.

This was incredibly helpful, thank you! I was so frustrated my older version would not install and it works on a laptop with the same OS, Big Sur but it was installed a couple years ago. I had to use the DXO free version from your google drive, the other version from the link still wouldn't intall after the terminal action. I personally use Lr, so I added that to the install. The first time I quit and opened Silver Efex Pro 2, the image didnt load. I quit and reopened again and everything was great.

Hi Andy, I had to charge my Mac with a new MacBookPro M2 with Monterrey and Nik Collection did not work any more. I solved with this video. Thank you very much!!!! Hello Andy, I did everything just like you said, but the filter is not added in my Ps, I have a MacBook Air with MacOs Monterrey 12.5, do you think that Maybe Creative Cloud has anything to do with that, since it appears to be the only way to get new plug ins, this is the first time I use CC, I used to have a MacBook Pro with PS and have an older version of Nick Collection, but couldn't install it on the New Ps 2023, can you recommend a solution? thank you!

I run Monterey 12.6.1 and Creative Cloud - that's how the video was made, and so that can't be the reason it does not work. The only reason it won't work is if you are running latest Ventura

It may work if you activate Rosetta in the Photoshop package info, but I hear it slows Photoshop a bit. But as the title says, this video is for INTEL Macs

Dear Andy! Thank you for the video, however it's not working for me either :/ [Ventura, M2] I've even found the Rosetta box (get info for the Photoshop app file inside the Photoshop folder in apps) but it's still not working. anything else you could suggest? is it possible that Ventura changed the commands in Terminal for system compatibility? Try using the DXO Free version instead of the original Nik one. The terminal command is fine - just replace the Nik installer with the DXO one.

I have tried it with mij own dmg file and with yours, but it still gives the same messages it only works with 10,7 or higher... What am I doing wrong? You can't install it on Ventura M1, but if you had it installed on a previous OS, you can copy the old plugins folder to the new one - I think. But you will have to run Photoshop with Rosetta enabled otherwise the Nik software will not run.

Thanks Andy - but this doesn't work for me. I have a Mac mini operating on Ventura. I followed the steps but when I paste the command line into terminal, I get the message that this version of Nik requires Mac OS 10.7 or newer etc, and the only option is to click OK which closes the launcher. Am I missing something please? Thanks in advance.

May be that's because you're running Ventura, or maybe because you have a non-Intel chip. One thing you might try is going into Applications>Adobe>Photoshop 2023 and right clicking on the package folder, selecting Get Info and looking to see if the Rosetta box is unchecked - if it is then put a check mark in it and close the info panel. Personally I think it's a long-shot, but I've read a lot of people have got their third party plugins to function doing that. But I am more suspect that it's the command line - it might need to be changed a bit for your non-Intel enviroment, if that's what you have. It'll be interesting to see if anyone reports the method working on an Intel machine running Ventura - that would prove the chip problem. So Richard, tell me the spec of your Mac Mini and I'll see if I can find anything useful for you.

I can't see that I have Rosetta on this machine - nothing visible in the get info box? (can't see it on the Creative Cloud app either) Fingers crossed and thanks ever so much for your help.

Bugger. Gave up trying to install my previously paid for (and very expensive) version of Nik on my Mac and bit the bullet and paid for it again. (Still had the original disk image from years ago.)

Of course it doesn't.....as it says in the title and pinned comment, INTEL only, Big Sur, Monterey and possible Ventura OS. It does not therefore apply to M-chips or Sonoma. Certain M1/Ventura combos would work, but only when running Photoshop with Rosetta activated.
