Lore wise if he can flip grown men over his back via the shaft then it makes sense that lawbringer can use it to block hits. But neither is very realistic to begin with.
@GoGoDani4 жыл бұрын
That is a very good point. Further on that, he has some shafts which are made out of metal, so that might explain why it would work for that as well. But that's not realistic either as making a solid staff of hardened steel is not just impractical and a waste of materials, but it would give a terrible amount of hand shock I would presume.

Everyone makes it sound like lawbringer is human. Well they are WRONG, he is clearly the pure reincarnation of justice itself.
@johnmatteson25904 жыл бұрын
Now I may be wrong, but it was always my assumption while playing the game (rep 113), that long arm of the law always went between the enemies legs. Then you hoist them over yourself by the groin, doesn’t mean that it’s any more practical, just possible. This theory is supported by how the move doesn’t do damage, but instead drains the opponent’s stamina a small bit. Also, the enemy just falls off your back. Law-bringer doesn’t have to pull the shaft out of them. Further supporting that law-bringer isn’t actually impaling anyone in this case.
@johnmatteson25904 жыл бұрын
Also, to those who would say that law bringer doesn’t put it between anyone’s legs, and that it always goes to the persons torso. Lawbringer is the tallest character in the entire game, and he intentionally gets low when he attempts the move. Showing that he is trying to get really low to the person to then preform the move. This leads me to believe that it is an error for the games animations, rather than Ubisoft intentionally trying to make him stab someone.

Dani, not to come down on you in a crushing manor, but they’re called finishers for a reason. The enemy is already softened up and weakened to the point that anything hurts. Even an armored opponent would feel the pain of a hammer to the guts in this state. Them being in such pain that they are forced to take a knee is understandable for the most part. They’ve already been beaten, cut, and outright impaled.

That was wierd alignment, it makes more sense but he normally jabs them in the gut, since he jabs them in the diagram normally I justify it as making the enemy keel over and then flipping them over useing their ribcage if you get what I mean. Makes very little sense, but more than stabbing someone with a blunt object through their gut and also dealing literally no damage. The arm thing seems more likely yes, but honestly there are far less sensible moves in the game.
@AsianSadge4 жыл бұрын
Hey I’m new and really happy I found your channel and you’re doing some great work here! Just like to say that when looking at finishers I like to suspend my disbelief just a little more because at that point you’ve depleted the enemy’s life bar and they’re pretty beat up and exhausted, so I like to imagine that they’re weak enough to fall to their knees after what looks like an insanely hard blow to the gut. Or it could just be that I’m biased cause finishers are cool.
@GoGoDani4 жыл бұрын
[ _tldr at the end_ ] Oh no trust me, I definitely suspend my disbelief too since my favorite execution is the "Hands on approach" just because it's hilarious when used on massive opponents like Shugoki. That being said I do have to throw that out of the window for these videos as the point is to be a nitpicky as possible to show where we can kinda draw a line. Unfortunately, the idea that someone could be "on the brink of death" and would be defenselessly standing with a weapon still inside of them is something more of a Hollywood dramatization. If anything, the first thing to give when severely injure is the legs. The leg muscles have a tendencies to seize, lock up, and/or just fail even in situation trauma that would even be considered physical. Like when you see a video of someone being scared and they end up falling to the floor instead or running away or spartan kicking the threat. If we were to take it to the extreme and say that the enemy was suffering from severe blood loss and major organ failure, I definitely don't think that the body's nervous system would be prioritizing the ability to stand while also trying to help the damage control. And that's just saying that if the damage was so severe that it wouldn't be practical to stand, setting aside that the pain of such injures would keel over most any person to have the unfortune of facing it. Sure there is the body's natural adrenaline, but most likely depending on the wound they suffered I wouldn't think that anything beyond a double dosage of morphine to the afflicted area would stop whatever pain they might be feeling. I'm sorry this was a really long response, that's probably how my videos get so god damn long. I don't know how to stop and tangent and not over describe something. Either way, thank you for watching! TLDR; I am intentionally nitpicky in these videos just for entertainments sake and I even like how ridiculous a lot of the executions are. That being said, most of the executions are extremely ridiculous. Thank you for watching and participating in the discussion! edit: Fixed some formatting issues

I always thought of Lawbringer's flipping move as more of a crotch lift throw. In my mind, he takes the shaft of the weapon, places it under the crotch of an opponent and lifts them from their legs, much like a wrestler would do.
@rickberny14244 жыл бұрын
Man, well made videos, this needs more recognition, if I have to nitpick just one thing would be the long arm: I know the animation it's a bit wonky but lawbringer doesn't actually impale the enemy with it, he's supposed to put the butt of the poleaxe between the enemys legs and then flip them over, and that make even less sense 😂

Had to read some comments and then go back to look to see it, but long arm really does seem to go under the opponents armpit, not impaling or between the legs as many have said. You can even see the opponent sort of clench onto the pole in their armpit, perhaps the idea is that lawbringer is going for a stab, the opponent tries to catch the pole to control it, but then lawbringer yanks THEM back with his poleaxe in response. If that was the intent I think its very neat execution, though I'm not sure if they would have thought about so many different actions at play through one single move. Anyway all that aside, I really enjoy these videos! I've probably been into the historical youtube scene for the past decade (Channels such as Skallagrim or Shadiversity or Lindeybeige come to mind) and I love playing for honor. One thing that I really, really enjoy about them specifically is that you just skip over the obviously impractical things. You just mentioned that people wouldn't spin in real combat, or that the combat is much more slowed down for balance, etc. while 99% of the time when watching more historical youtube channels, they'll go on and on and on about it. I understand that most people who get ALL of their combat or historical fighting info from pop culture might think that its accurate, but I feel like at this point its been said to death so the fact that you touch on the fact that it is unrealistic, but don't feel the need to break it down to the atomic level very nice.

I know this video is quite old at this point and you may have realized it by now, but LB does actually have a “rebound” punish similar to what you talk about near 3:32. Upon a parry, if you light attack, he uses the momentum to thwack them in the head with the butt of the weapon. Additionally, landing a successful Judge Jury and Executioner (or any top unblockable heavy) finisher, a light attack after it lands grants a similar pole smack to the face. :) Edit: you talk about it at 7:05, whoops

@Labicklapoopycringy2 жыл бұрын
Great video, but about the finishers idk why you didn’t add, the stomp finisher, it’s imo one of the best finishers just because it puts the emphasis of how useful the spike actually is on a pole axe or halberd, they’re more important on halberds and lawbringers weapon is a pole axe but I think it would’ve been cool to mention this finisher
@nemanjaz.91134 жыл бұрын
A guy in the comments made a good point about the whole Thomas the Dank Engine Impaling Charge. When a guy stabs you in your stomach, and adrenaline BY SOME MIRACLE still keeps you going, you would either fall over, or try to go get AWAY from the tip. You dont walk sideways and you dont try to push against the weapon so walking backwards seems to be viable as a sort of ''Panic'' move when you dont tripe and fall over (Which, i think that the impaling charge actually knocks opponents down if they are out of stamina
@MrRatman2593 жыл бұрын
One thing ima say on this is if you look closely on the animation of the flip move, he doesn’t really impale them. He puts the end of the pole axe in their armpit and flips them. Or that could just be a classic case of Ubi and their wack animations

An idea I got from your video about the long arm What if instead of Lawbringer stabbing the enemy in the stomach with the butt spike, he used the hook of the axe on the enemy's shoulder to pull them to him before lowering his body and flipping them over? It would make use of the most underused part of his weapon and would be less telegraphed
@盧聖龍-n1t Жыл бұрын
About the last finisher you were talking about, I think he doesn’t just sharpening his axe with his hand, there is an animation that he take something out of his butt and perhaps Ubi was just too lazy to make a texture of it lol

One thing you have to remember about executions, is that your opponent has no health when you preform them. Most likely they're weak and weary, presumably from blood loss due to all the hits and stabs and slashes you've given them.

Also, lawbringer is definitely among the strongest fighters. It's fully believable to me that once he's gotten a few good hits in, it'd be a pretty simple matter for him to overpower you and basically kill you however he pleases.

So one comment on the long arm. It’s not him impaling them on the spike, it’s shoving the shaft of the pollaxe in between their legs and lifting them over his shoulder. Like a seesaw kinda. The reason it looks like it’s impaling them is the character models getting in the way. Again, the move is dumb for sure.
