Where people shorter back then? If so how they grew do tall?
@SoI_Badguy4 жыл бұрын
@@carltheincels6641 They weren't that short back then... maybe 2 inches less than the average now. And there were still people that were far taller than the average, so people 7ft tall would exist then- Same as today, just more rarely. Idk where that myth that medieval people were 4'11" came from but it's frustrating.
@eewweeppkk4 жыл бұрын
And it should be noted that us being taller is more likely linked to better nutrition and health education, not genetics or anything. There are plenty of people who are 7 ft and without any conditions that make them have unhealthy levels of growth, they are just 7 ft tall.

@Just another Person Me too, I’m currently running Crowley Shaft, Crowley Spike, and Fire breather axe for the weapon, and Dignified Veneer torso, Aquitas arms, and dheneb helm / Dignified Veneer helm. The Aquitas arms match the metal for the matching fire armor.

I really like your interpretation of the halberd vs. The poleax, the only thing I would say is there is a structural differencebetween them in that the halberd is typically one piece of metal, whereas the poleax is typically three pieces of metal with the two side weapons being one-piece fitted into a socket of the spear and shaft piece. Also it appears as though the halberd more commonly one large piece over the wood, whereas the poleax typically has four sheets of metal fastened into the shaft

Raider is definitely on my list for heroes I want to talk about. The Dane axe has had it's extensive use on the battlefield and it would be a shame if I didn't talk about it. That and I have a lot to say about how Raider uses his axe... it's interesting.

The length suggests a halberd, poleaxes are normally a bit shorter than the wielder while halberds are a bit longer, the blade being at, or slightly above, the wielders head. Thats normally how i view it

Another good video with research and historical accuracy. I appreciate your videos like this. Scholagladitoria has some videos on the differences in halberds and pollaxes, as do some other channels, but you seem to have gotten the gist of it. I also feel like polearms aren't often given the attention they deserve so kudos to you for giving this weapon some attention.

I'd usually think the wrappings on the frazar shaft would be to increase friction, another way to stop the sliding accidents you mention. But I don't know how his armor comes into effect on the matter so time for 1.b xD
@GoGoDani4 жыл бұрын
Wrapping on a handle can help do that, but it's usually with a sturdy material that has it's own friction in of itself. Like a leather wrap, a cord wrap, or maybe even some sort of glued down canvas wrap. But with how poorly the wrap looks on the Frazar shaft, it seems apparent that it would come off over extensive use. It also looks like it's made out of some sort of soft fabric like gauze, so that also gives me that idea that it would rip and come off over time. Which, in that case, I would just take it off before hand and just use a wooden shaft.

How would the law bringer in real life possibly be able to see in this helmet design, or would it be impossible with this designed helmet? I am unfamiliar with armor of this kind of ancient and medieval armor design, if you have a answer I would appreciate it, please and thank you(P.S. Lawbringer has a Pollaxe,because,if you look on halberds ,they have diagonal blade and the lower part of the halberd is pointing towards you.While pollaxes have the normal axe head(judging by his basic weapon design,but with the skins,there are both)
@dumah82273 жыл бұрын
As a curiosity in spanish trailer of the lawbringer they actually call the weapon halberd. Un spanish, poleaxe its "hacha de petos" and halberd its "alabarda"

@klikssiikubra3145 жыл бұрын
The problem with the poleaxe and halberd etymology is that in original sources, they are generally just described as "axe". The distinction was something people did later.
@erris57444 жыл бұрын
I can see why it is called the most versatile weapon. Firstly, based on the time period, it kind of is. It is an axe, a spear, and a bludgeoning weapon all-in-one. There may be better weapons altogether, but it is the most versatile of all.
