My family has been on this continent since before the Revolution, and has served in our military since too... I have nothing but respect for immigrants, they are what makes our country powerful and great. America is only great when we treat all of our neighbors with the same respect we ourselves wish to have directed at us. Everyone generally wants the same things in life, it's just that many people are born into places where it's harder to achieve what so many of us take for granted. Everyone deserves a fair shake, no matter where they are from. Greed and bigotry are the banes of us all, but especially to those who are downtrodden.
@martineshamzin75352 жыл бұрын
Im an immigrant. I came here as a kid. I can. tell you that youre 100% incorrect buddy, and youre suffering from liberal imposed guilt. America is not doing well. It has been going downhill at least since 1960's onwards, and too many immigrants are a big part of it. We went from 1960 when most Americans would do better then their parents to 1970, 1980, 1990 when the majority of Americans owned a house and 2 vehicles, to Y2K where our immigration became too much for us, and now the average American rents( 76% rent/24 % own houses) and the majority of Americans own 1 vehicle. The government of America needs to start putting the interests of their citizens ahead of the interests of foreigners. Otherwise there is absolutely no reason for us to give them taxes or any loyalty. Right now, our government treats foreigners and citizens almost the same. That doesnt work. Its no different then a marriage. If a person didn't put the happiness and needs of his spouse ahead of any random stranger, how long do you think a marriage would last? Not long. And this situation isnt going to last long either. NO, its NOT RANDOM PEOPLE BEING BORN HERE OR THERE. Its different cultures, some of which are more successful at producing a good country. That is why assimilation is so important. We have never had more immigrants in our country as we do today, and by every measure from buying power, to suicide rates to life expectancy the people living in America have it worse and worse.
@marissashantez6051 Жыл бұрын
Why? If they were making the country powerful or great, why is the life quality of Americans going downhill? Did you know in 1980 the average American owned a home and 2 vehicles? Now 76% of Americans rent, and are lucky to even own 1 car. So, it seems more immigrants =more poverty for all of us.

Nice song, but extremely stupid sentiment, the quality of life in this country has gone down to extreme lows, and its because od our overgenerous immigration policy. Just think in 1980's the average American owned a house and 2 vehicles. Now 76% of us rent, and most of us aril ky to have one vehicle. And our labor participation is incredibly low...so much for them being hard working, or helping fill those jobs. Almost everything is worse.
@alicequayle4625 Жыл бұрын
@@marissashantez6051 I think it's more the USA economic policy. Worker rights have been reduced since 1980. Outsourcing of jobs overseas, I understand due to rules being changed by Reagan. Cutting taxes for the rich and raising them for the poor. Eg some European countries have about 6 weeks annual leave as standard. I understand that its about 2 weeks in the USA? From what I understand, some of this is because of campaign finance rules. USA politicians have to raise massive sums to get elected. So susceptible to bribery from big business interests.

@@willkoestner4159 Because they harm the economy as a whole. There is a reason every single generation of Americans live worse then the generation before them. We went from the 1960's 70's 80's and 90's when the average American( even with no education) owned a house and 2 vehicles, and could afford to raise a family on one income. Now 24% of Americans own homes, immigration has pretty much doubled our population, and continues to increase it further. Economists pretend that more bodies to tax means more taxes, but the opposite is actually true. The top 5% of earners pay 90% of taxes anyhow. Our population density is starting to really work against us. If we keep that door open we will be a 3rd world country in no time. Its especially problematic because many of the immigrants come from cultures that overpopulate. Its devastating from an environmental standpoint as well. Anyone that is pro immigration but still pretends to care about climate change is hypocrite of the worst kind.

My family were polish jew immigrants that were brought over after being imprisoned in a death camp during ww1, my family certainly understands how rough it can be... unfortunately alot of the newer family has lost touch with our tradtions and our heritage, I definitely will not. Thank you gogol bordello, for keeping yours and holding strong to the memories and remembering that although it can and will be rough no matter where you're from, stay strong and persevere, no matter the cost you can make it. Never give up.

I miss concerts and getting to see this band live. I used to live in St. Louis, and they'd come just about every year. Always put on a hell of show, with a great eclectic group of fans. We come from all walks of life, and but join together to enjoy an evening of punk, drink, and human existence. This band is f*ng amazing, and I hope we're able to beat this f*ng disease soon, for the sake of those directly suffering, and indirectly suffering. And yes, not going to bands and socializing with other humans is a form of suffering. Rock on, man! this band is so underrated. Also thank you for this wonderful song. My grandmother is from the Philippines and met my grandpa during the war. I can't imagine what it was like to adapt to a completely different culture, as I'm so far removed from that. My mother's grandmother's mother was off the boats from England, and we've traced some family from Scotland as well. This is truly the meeting and melding of many different cultures, and it's wonderful to embrace them all.

This song is and always will be my inspiration. I'm a white dude born in America. It reminds me of the challenges I haven't faced and to be grateful for it and to be compassionate and do all that I can for those who do have to face it. When I feel my troubles are deep, it reminds me of my family from years ago and families in the present. We all have so much strength and can do so much good. We just have to do it and help those who need it.

This is like Toronto, Canada. The most multicultural city in the world. Every other person is from somewhere else. It's a wonderful thing. A city with 2,794,356 people and we average under 40 murders per year. A lot of those are domestic related. Look it up. Facts.

You have no idea whats happening in Ukraine. Zelensky is a conman who jails his political opponents, and got rid of all free press long ago. Its all propaganda. Im sure that 40 billion we are handing them a lot is going to end up in his pocket. The reason we are fighting for Ukraine is because that is where our politicians do their money laundering, and NATO provoked Russia into attacking. Grow up.

And the only natives your country had got fucking shafted. And then treated badly in American fiction for a long time. "Indians" > Cowboys. I think America should celebrate the fact that it is a melting pot of culture.

@@VidyaAntics Every country is, on some level. I live in Belgium, and it aways makes me laugh when people act like theyre "pure" Belgians, knowing how many nationalities could be present in a 16th-century army. Most of us probably have Spanish, German, French or Italian ancestors and we're as much the result of a mix of different cultures as any country.
