This video isn't really a full review of the car, but more about the detail and figures that other normal car reviews miss. Sorry its a bit long, but hopefully some will find it useful if looking to buy a Hyundai Ioniq Electric 28kWh model. It would have been longer if I hadn't messed up the recording!

This summer my best day was 8.3 kWh per 100 km. After 72 km of driving, I still got 80 % battery left. Small city driving, local roads. That means 360 km one charge possibility. 28 Ionic is the most efficient car ever. My previous i3 wasn't that good.

Great review. I just purchased a 2017 Ioniq Ultimate trim. It is being delivered to my home tomorrow. I live in Riverside Ca. and I am so looking forward to driving this car here. 4:20 i think charge ports at the front are horrible and it would be a dealbreaker for me. Not only do i hate parking in nose first, i probably wouldn't even be able to put the car in my carport that way since its a pretty tight turn and the charge point is at the back of the carport. Otherwise great review.

I want to thank you for all the videos on this model. I was looking for a used EV less than $20,000 USD and was considering this and an e-Golf. I purchased a 2019 Ioniq, as the features included could not be topped. Your channel helped convince me of the value with this model. There are some high profile car reviewers here in the states that claim the current EVs are disposable cars, like mobile phones, but the value of these 2017-2020 models proves otherwise.

Thanks. I'm glad you've found the videos useful. There's so much misinformation out there and so much negativity against EVs. Of course, the vast majority of it is wrong, lies and deliberate attempts to delay the uptake, even though the majority of spreaders of this misinformation seem to believe its facts. Anyway, the Ioniq is a great EV and still one of the world's most efficient EVs. If you can charge on cheap electricity (or even better, solar) then it also free to run. We still run one for about £150 year to do 10,000 miles.

Its something you get used too. I used to favour front charge ports and as my early EVs had those. But then after driving Ioniqs and Teslas for the last 4 years, I'd favour a rear side port now. It has also the advantage of working at a Tesla Supercharger (see kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqDJooFqYsaEbK8) where the cables are short and designed for that port location.

@@GoGreenAutos Hi Matt, we're unlikely to be able to plug in at home, at least at first so my question is this... I would like to be able to set a timer to defrost the windscreen and warm up the interior, when you say "preconditioning" is it this that it cannot do if its not plugged in? I'd been given to understand that this is called "preheating" whereas "preconditioning" is the car warming up the traction battery ready for charging, I believe. Be a shame if it cannot do the former as that is what I'm looking forward to most, no more ice scraping in the freezing cold! If this is what you meant then I shall contact our Green local Councillor who assures me that a charger will be put into our designated parking area if and when it's needed. In our case that will be autumn '24 so I'll be in touch around then to see if you can get hold of one of these for us I think.

@GoGreenAutos
@GoGreenAutos Жыл бұрын
@@arangeofevs973 Not done a video on charging as you really don't need to worry about it. Just charge the car when you're not using it (for most that's while you sleep) and it charges to 100%. When on a trip, if you need to rapid charge it, then charge to 80-90%, but its fine to charge to 100% if you need it, but it takes longer so can be a waste of your time. A lot is said about looking after the battery and only use 20-80% but the reality is that it makes such a little difference, it's not measurable (and I've had many EVs with with over 100k miles too). The battery's BMS (battery management system) does this job for you, so you don't need to do anything other than plug it in. If it was a Tesla, then yes it would be different, but then they give you different battery controls to allow this limitation in charging. Every other EV, you just plug it in and walk away and not give it a thought. The pack also does a cell balancing routine when at 100% charged and charging on AC, so it needs to be charged to 100% to do this. I've seen vehicles where people don't do this, thinking they're doing the best for the pack and it can have a detrimental effect.

'Ideally you want your charge port on the front'. 🤔 The positioning of the charge port on the front requires drivers to park 'nose in' to charge. This means that they have to reverse out, often into crowded car parks or, if at home, into the street. The reduced visibility and the arc taken by the front of the car while maneovuring both in and out of the space is more dangerous than reversing in and driving out. Ideally no cars would have their charge ports on the front. It is something that has put me off a lot of potential vehicles. The Ioniq is an excellent design and should be copied.
@GoGreenAutos
@GoGreenAutos 4 жыл бұрын
That is a valid point for those scenarios however I drive all sorts of EVs and would always favour a front centrally mounted charge port as the cables on rapid chargers can be too sort to reach of the port is on the side. The trouble is you can't guarantee you can park on the ideal side of the charger to suit your car.
