Looper, you do know that the Dragon Ball franchise has moved past world breaking power during the Saiyan Saga. Goku is a universe breaker. Battle of the Gods confirmed this when Goku first turned SSG. He and Vegeta has gotten way WAY stronger since. Also, Gohan deserves better than a handout.

this was actually one of my main complaints about the direction of db franchise, to me gohan was always meant to be a bigger character and for some reason they benched him for the longest time. its hard to balance the two characters and i get that, but gohan just inexplicably became a weakling and it just urked me. glad to see hes back, curious to see where he will go from here

Just saw this today with my son and youngest daughter and to finally see Piccolo and Gohan get their due was incredible. Been watching this since I was a baby because my brother was 5 years older than me and I was born on 89'. I literally felt the hair raise on my entire body when Gohan finally snaps and becomes what I call Gohan God form. There's something about Gohans demeanor that when he loses his shit that stands out so much more than the others. I can wait to see how Goku and Vegeta react to their new forms

Gohan was content with his saying traits, his mother however wanted him to be smart and not like Goku that trains and fights. I just wonder though if GT(not the best), was a paradigm of another universe, it seems like the arc again has been rewritten, Gohan was stronger than Goku, heart and soul, the intro scene chasing butterflies and befriend Piccolo.

I like that Gohan is striving to be something different than a straight fighter. They implied he is training occasionally on his own with a unique set of goals. Training smarter rather than harder. I like that he's trying to better himself more so in mind and knowledge rather than instinct or whatever else Goku/Vegeta focus on, though in the movie it showed he's still aloof and not street smart. Anyways, I'd like to see Gohan get more screen time and exploration of his unique journey, Piccolo too! My favorites of Dragon Ball.

This movie gives justice to Gohan and what he strived for in the original series(Buu saga), Gohan said in one of the episodes, he wanted to obtain and achieve a singular strong "perfect" form without the need of transforming through SSJ 1, 2, 3 ect. Although this new form is still a powerup, but with a lot of magnitude to shake other universes. and i love it!

I’ve always liked Gohan, he’s too Human to be a saiyan but too saiyan to just be human. It makes this weird balance that allows him to fade in and out of the two types of characters DB has, relatable and fighters. Toei has been trying to make goku silly and kind of give him a little slice of life aspect but the thing about goku is that he doesn’t have a normal life. Goku was pushing boulders as a child. Gohan has that spark that Toei has been dimming with goku since super started.

Just saw the movie it was pretty dope. The art style is refreshing. My first time watching in the cinemas. I grew up on DB back in 92. Now as an adult it feels great seeing one of your favourite cartoons/animes still being popular and still being relevant. The power scaling is interesting, now that Gohan has his new form. Its gonna be insane when we see Goku Vegeta Broly and Gohan training together and in battles together.

Gohan unlocking a new form makes since to me. SSJ transformations in the series are usually unlocked when the character in question is pushed to the limits of their respective emotional, behavioral, and moral limits. Goku - free spirited rarely takes life personal, always willing to extend grace even to enemies SSJ trigger - Angry his friend died, angry at his weakness, inability to save anyone, wanted to beat Freeza at all cost Vageta - prideful, believe in his own strength above all else, despite being the de facto king of the saying is still constantly second best. SSJ trigger - He lets everything he has been holding on to for years, pride anger, weakness, trauma, letting everything go and allowing himself to be vulnerable

Exactly, I have a theory based around this. *My theory* is Saiyan power is *strongly* derived from *emotions* that trigger their Saiyan Instincts. *(Ultra Ego for Vegeta.)* We’ve seen Super Saiyan unlocked by a triggered emotion. This also proves why U6 Saiyans have more potential, because they are more emotional. Probably why Human hybrid Saiyans have more potential than full Saiyans, because Humans are instinctively more emotional. Saiyans are instinctively physical. *(Bulma is proof of a Human having a strong emotional impact on someone like Vegeta.)* Then having a mixture of both probably enhances both blood and instincts into an evolved hybrid. Hence the statement that Hybrid Saiyans have more potential than Full Saiyans, including Broly. Broly has a busted emotional trigger(berserk) that’s out of control and that’s why he grows at a busted pace. But like I said, out of control. god Ki needs to be controlled. And he loses huge outbursts of power. Also Broly is never on par with Gogeta Blue, that was to stop him because he was causing too much destruction. Gohan being a Hybrid Saiyan has more potential than Broly, I’ve already explained how Broly has a weakness and how Hybrid Saiyans have more potential. Gohan being born with a Saiyan tail is a *special important fact.* As a Hybrid Saiyan, that’s what separates Gohan from Trunks and Goten. Also going Great Ape, he unlocked that *’beast’* that Trunks and Goten don’t know. Then having his Full Potential unlocked by different methods, and at such a young age(yes wasted potential.) Toriyama said that Beast Gohan is him finally letting the beast inside him loose. The beast inside he tried holding back against Cell. Because Gohan would’ve been an uncontrollable beast, basically like Broly’s Berserker form. Unlocking his Beast form against Cell Max is a homage to that. Except Gohan has now learned to control that Beast, by embracing both his Human side and Saiyan side. *(Yin and Yang)* Gohan is a genius of the mind and body and embodies the *•Perfect Balanced Warrior•* that’s why Gohan is the Saiyan Beerus was so interested in. Also why the Oracle fish see’s and says *“The Universe’s Strongest Warrior will soon rise.”* Because since the TOP training arc, Gohan’s *’new goal’* has been to train to control that beast and finally embrace who he is. This is why Gohan has the most potential. From being a Saiyan, Gohan has such a beastly side(oozaroo) inside of him continuously growing(cause saiyans are always growing.) and that’s why he tries to embrace his Human side more. Gohan was always *forced to fight* because he was always needed. That caused him to go through lots of *young traumatic moments* seeing people he cared for continuously in danger and hurt. Always having his mom worried when she always cared about him. Gohan wanted a more peaceful life to his chaotic side. *(Yin and Yang)* That’s why Gohan wanted to embrace his Human side more… Beast Gohan is Gohan finally accepting his Saiyan battle instincts and emotions…

I'd just like to have an explanation what this form is about. I know, there's limited logic in new forms. But 1-3 are just about hidden powers, "potential unleashed" is just a magical power up that brings all hidden powers without transforming, "god" is another kind of Ki-usage, more calm...God ki and stuff. Ultra instinct was explained in detail by whis. It's clear that Gohans new form comes from rage again und piccolo's form was given by shenron. But I'd like to hear more how they are described and how they work in future.

The 1st clue about Gohan's power, was when he was a kid and was kidnapped by Radditz. Gohan was in Radditz transport pod, and Gohan broke out of it. That transport pod can withstand atmosphere entry and crash impacts. But kid Gohan broke through it like paper and hit Radditz just as hard as Goku or Piccolo.

First off I’m gonna disagree that this form Gohan achieved makes him stronger than Goku. We simply don’t know that, Goku wasn’t there so we don’t know how he or Vegeta would have held up against Cell Max or even possibly how easily they would have beaten him. I’m glad they are starting to show Gohan some love again but the story telling in the modern Dragon Ball is just garbage. They literally had Gohan hiding out in his office the whole movie studying ants… then without any training or anything gets right back to his peak form within minutes and then surpasses it without any real logical reason. They try to hard to go the nostalgic route with him seeing Piccolo getting destroyed and him having the same exact emotional tipping point and power up as he did against the original cell. The stakes just simply weren’t high enough in this moment to have the same effect Gohan has seen Piccolo get his ass kicked a number of times even die. I know it’s a movie so time is limited but they could have at least attempted to include Gohan in the movie throughout the movie to give that impression that was he’s achieving is earned rather than just given to him by lazy writing and an apparent need to cater to the Gohan fanboys.

Here is the problem that I have this form. During the TOurnament of Power Gohan was the first one to go SS2 but e tone else was able to achieve this as well with training/rage. Since Gohan was able to tap into this power just because he was mad I also assume any other sayian can do the exact same. Making this transformation not too special. sure anyone can go SSG with the ritual but not everyone can go SSB. Especially SSBE. So when I look at this form, though I think it’s really cool, I think we need more explanation towards it/see it in action more

My point is that gohan doesn't have nearly enough experience to be considered "the strongest" in the dragon ball universe, and training with Piccolo will only hinder his overall growth, if he were to train with Piccolo and have others like goku, future Trunks, vegeta, or even Boo, and train none stop against them, every single day, it still wouldn't amount to the experience that goku and vegeta themselves have, I'm a gohan fan I don't wanna sound like I'm trashing on Gohan, but it feels more like them saying "he's the strongest" is just giving the fans what they want without watching him grow and develop into that power. Which is why I brought up the concept of would he beable to hold his own against those plausible odds. All in all it seems we have some agreement that no, gohan is still lacking in power to hold a candle to them.

I don't think Gohan Beast in its current state is beyond Ultra Instinct, Ultra Ego, or Black Frieza, simply because Gohan doesn't know how to access divine ki, or the serious speeds and powers they have provided. I have a hard time believing he can currently match Super Saiyan God or Blue. It would be more believable if he trained with the other 3 Saiyans with Whis. Remember, he lost the form after the fight was over, as did Piccolo. They both looked confused when they powered down to base forms. Gohan has blown off decades of training. At this point his only redemption would be to pull a Frieza and go into a hyperbolic time chamber like he did for 10 days to get 10 years of training to make up for his years after the Cell games, after the Buu arc, and what got him into such a pitiful state in the Resurrection F arc that he was skinny as a rail and could only sustain the original Super Saiyan for like a minute or less against Tagoma and Frieza in his weakest form.

He also struggled quite a bit against the lower class warriors in the tournament of power arc, only surviving off of his intellect, which I wish they would focus more on if they are going to continue making him into a pacifist that is forced to fight.

I still think Broly is by far the strongest saiyan. He was able to hold his own against goku and vegeta in their ss blue forms and he was in his base form the majority of the time. Then when he finally went ss 1, they had to Fuze and go ss blue again just to bring him down. If broly ever unlocked ss blue form, he would be damn near unstoppable!

They cant keep the hair color consistency throughout the different series. I love Dragon Ball Z. It was a great show featuring 3 levels of super saiyan transformations that were of consistent yellow hair color. Dragon ball Super then came with red, blue, rose (goku black) and white (ultra instinct) hair transformations. And now the movie again introduced a new hair color for gohan. Imo it’s more down to earth. I didn’t mind SJJG (Red) but the blue nonsense, ultra instant was lame as hell. Like WTF SSJ2 Kefla against god Goku is mad unrealistic. The training scenes shows little effort & no determination to get stronger in a serious way. It’s too childish. I love the man but Toriyama is so forgetful. That's wrong. Gohan has always had to train. He trained for a year in the hyperbolic time chamber 1 year with Goku and still had to be pushed to go SSJ2. Adult Gohan can go SSJ2 but still got his ass whooped by Dabura. He trained with the Z sword and had to get special help from a Kai to get Ultimate form. Then he fell off completely and DBS went from Gohan super weak SSJ1 to a little training he went back to Ultimate. Which is bs. Gohan has always needed some amount of training. Not just all of the sudden he's angry and bam. Stronger than everyone. That craps on Goku and Vegeta getting special training from literal Gods. This is just fan feeding Gohan after constant neglection from Toriyama.

The key ingredient being… Gohan is a human Sayian hybrid. Therefore logically cannot tap into the totally pure forms of full blooded Sayians. I want to say this is the result of when a human sayian hybrid tries to enter SUPER SAYIAN 3 but yielding different result. An imperfect SS3 if you will but with a hint of the mystic Gohan’s specific aura. I know what you’re about to say, gotten and trunks go SS3 when fused. They are only able to do this while fused which makes me think the fusion works as a hack to bypass the limits of half Sayian blood. Despite gotens and trunks fusion and going SS3, I don’t think it’s actually possible for half sayians to reach the signature SS3 form on their own powers alone, that’s why we are getting these wildcard forms from half sayians like future trunks and gohan. Just looking at the fact that neither trunks or gohan had ever reached SS3. Gohans hair grows out to be super long in this new gray form and his eyes resemble ss3 by having a black pupil, the lightning is similar to SS3 and 2 forms, then his demeanor changes a little bit like ss3 goku’s. Broly is the only Sayian for that matter that can go into the true pure blooded Sayian form other than Khalifa. Which leads backs my theory that all other Sayian forms are “false forms” and attempts at reaching the original perfect Sayian form. Human blood has a similar effect. I also think it may have something to do with the fact that both Goku and vegeta lost their tails. Broly still has his. The Ozaru power resides in the tail and maybe the only way to enter the true super sayian form is by having a tail.

Gohan was able to tap into more power because he is half human. Humans have deep emotions. Love is always the most powerful weapon and when his daughter Pan is taken, that would be enough for any parent to lose it! Seeing his best friend/mentor Piccolo die as well. No wonder! I felt that one. Gohan has also been studying and become extremely smart as an adult. So smart that Goku made him team leader for the Universe tournament for his tactical ability and quick thinking. If I was trying to explain Gohans new form to someone I would compare it to Gokus SSBKK transformation. To me Gohan didn’t just achieve a new form but I felt as though he was in the current state of two forms at the same time. To me he was definitely still in his Ultimate form which takes away some of the more primal emotional rage driven power that comes with being a Saiyan. But he also had that same SS2 moment where he snapped so to me pure rage had taken over him and pushed him into a new level but not taking him completely out of his more calm and focused Ultimate form. So he was essentially in like an Ultimate Rage type form where he was existing in almost a borderline Broly type of rage but still maintaining his Ultimate form and his logic instead of just blind primal rage
