The plan was to pass the torch but Dragon Ball, as a story and franchise, is Goku. OG DB centered on him. A villain involving a tree is a reminder of him. A character next arc is a reminder of him. DB GT made Goku remember Goku. Super has a Goku reminder. Tried to not be spoilery here but Dragon Ball simply is Goku.

I come close to tears because I witnessed him being explosive in every episode and movies.. and for the narrator to explain that is dope asf. Crazy thing is this episode shows his transformation, super saiyan 2 is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.. but this was actually just a bonus gohan being able to rage and harness super saiyan 2. His natural ability to rage out is the potential in him that’s dangerous.. just imagine if he kept training and delt with more villains at the time. I believe he would’ve reached plenty more level easy

Let’s go, this is the episode I’ve been waiting for ever since I discovered your channel! Gohan turning SSJ2 for the first time is literally my favorite moment of the whole series! And I really liked Alex’s reaction, it reminded me of the first time I saw this iconic scene. But I’d really suggest you to also react to the original Japanese version because of the awesome music that unfortunately wasn’t played in the English dubbed version. Without that music, you really won’t get the same experience.

8:02 in life man, and thats why i always said I really relate to gohan, his character is just like mine. for the most part from upbringing to the complete character, even the power within is relatable in the times of people harassing me even to the point when it even went physical, at the end I let the power out and people were suprised how a peacefull person can do this, even I myself... You can now official reveal to him this form of Gohan as "SSJ2" the true ascension form of super saiyan. Previously when Vegeta and trunks achieved a bulky super saiyan form it was not really a ssj ascension. It was called SSJ berserk grade 1, grade 2 , grade 3 (trunks weak point form grade 3) etc... Later Goku and Gohan reached a point of staying in super Saiyan form without aura is known as "SSJ perfected form". When Goku powered up to his full power on cell. It is known as the " True SSJ 1 full power perfected". But they ain't ever really ascended until now Gohan reached a state were he unlocked his beastly power with SSJ2 transformation... Also a simple reminder that vegeta also died during namek saga. Hope to see more of your journey throughout this channel. ❤️❤️🥰

Because not everyone has the same opinions as you. I can't stand the Japanese version personally I think it ruins the moment completely, especially the music. Seriously, the lyrics singing in unmei no hi along with no Gohan inner monologue totally kill the mood for me. It's just a different atmosphere that people prefer. If you like the Japanese version great, but not everyone is required to like what you like.

The inner monlogue is also totally dispensable since there's enough visual storytelling for the audience to figure out what was goin on, the music while its a bit cliche it gives us some insight about gohan's frame of mind. and that's just my opinion, if you prefer other versions its fine i guess.

I personally like both. Either scene gives a different perspective. I don’t think one is better than other. I like the English version because of the narrator. I like the the Japanese version because the song is narration itself plus the build up. Each version has what the other one doesn’t. At least it’s not Kai 😆

@Azull The mood is mysticism, catharsis, a bit of spiritualism, badassness as you say, sorrow snd regret for android 16, breaking your limits, and it's also just really fucking cool. There's other things I feel from it but cant convey well in words because I'm just not a very eloquent writer. The faulconer score adds to all that to me because of the atmosphere of the music. It sounds like something from another world, most of the time it's this mystical heavy metal techno that feels like some kind of spiritual sci fi, but in this scene it actually strips most of that back to a bare piano and bass beat. It really sets the mood that something epic and awe inspiring is about to happen and focuses your attention more on the scene itself providing a fantastic background track. I guess I prefer instrumental music during 99% of scenes, lyrics belong in bands to me and soundtracks should generally be only instruments and that turns me off of the Japanese version. Lyrics during a show or movie just make me pay more attention to the music itself rather than having the music simply elevate the scene. Also in general the Japanese soundtrack sounds too much like a 60s action cartoon or something it's very off putting for me. But again, it's all subjective so I'm glad that there are different versions for different people.

Not that this episodes dub is bad i just didnt like the monologue after 16's death as cool as it still is. Watch it in sub and its the speechless gohan that makes you think and lets you marinate in the death. If they could use the sub music with the ending outro monologue excluding gohans speech its leaves a more powerful punch of emotions and rage in my opinion
