A bit late but since gohan is half human his transformations are more powerful due to having more emotions if that makes sense. Goku turned ssj when krillin died, which mixes his sayain blood (oozaru) with his human upbringing allowing him to reach a form no other sayian could because they discarded emotions and feelings. So knowing that emotions give extra boosts in transformations, it makes sense that seeing piccolo "die" made gohan go beast mode (I assume its an evolution based on ultimate and oozaru not ssj)

I think people misunderstand training in db, it has always been known that the saiyan transformation is base on emotion so it make sense when Gohan unlock ssj2 when cell and is uncle made him channel is rage to access more power that doesn’t mean is good in a fight that where is lack of training/combat experience put him down, with exception to Broly, gohan is the next rage monster. After is (ultimate form) was achieved it no surprise if that form evolves into Beast/ Ultimate Beast

Training has always been the way to allow for the power boost. -When the ozaru stopped appearing during the classic series it became a symbol of Goku's power, after training during the King Piccolo arc. -Kaioken was a technique, so Goku inherently had to train to be dominate it. Also, that's a limmit breaker, literally for tapping into power beyond your limit. -SSJ came after Goku reached his limit fighting Freezer (signaled by the constant use of multiple kaioken), with an emotional burst as the trigger. -Perfected SSJ is all about training SSJ. -SSJ2 took Goku's training and Gohan's potential to achieve point where it could be triggered. -SSJ3 is implied to be the result of long training (although I admit that one is kinda weak in terms of writing). Emotions can grant power and are triggers for transformations, but they're useless without prior power level that came with training (at least when the transformation is still relevant to the plot and hasn't been given by Toriyama to anyone who shows up).

This whole movie was basically just a ripoff and repetition of the cell saga. Same villian. Same gohan in the same dress. 2 androids come before cell. And beast form is just a fan service. No explanation to how a scholar Gohan who has lately not kept up with his training has unlocked a form which surpasses ultra instinct and ultra ego. Gohan has the most latent potential. This alone can't explain everything

His potential plus anger and rage. Anger and rage triggers transformations. People have to accept Gohan is a prodigy just likes people have to accept Broly was born stupidly strong. Broly is a much worse character than Gohan in my opinion, but that is a story for another day.

The animation and look and feel of this entire movie was transh. I wish they bring back the quality they delivered in Dragon Ball Super Broly movie those transformations were sick even SSJ felt so dominant.

this moment felt so forced and poorly paced in the manga. theres litterally no proper build up that let up to this, nor does the transformations both picolo and gohan went trough make any sense. dropped the manga shortly afterwards cause the author has lost it

How he has been training since the Moro arc, and he has more talent and potential than Goku. Gohan achieved SSj2 in just a few months and achieve SSj even sooner. How is this forced?

@@payneicecold3000 didnt he achieve ssj after spending years in the time chamber training together with goku? now that is making sense, not this. i cant recall him training much at all during the moro arc but maybe i was falling asleep due to how boring the story could be at times. DB and DBZ are still vastly superior. as for GT thats up to debate

@GrandTickler Gohan didn't take a year to reach super saiyan. It only took him a few months. If you watch the clip on KZbin of Gohan and Goku coming out of the time chamber you hear Vegeta say "It hasn't been even a yet" which means they left early and I am guessing it was months early and Gohan had already achieved super saiyan and ssj2

It’s been stated a few times throughout the series that Saiyan half breeds are special creatures, so them having a unique form makes sense. SSG is right of toei/Toriyama’s ass lol the legendary form was supposed to be the Super Saiyan. If Broly is THE legendary Super Saiyan, wtf is the form Goku unlocked against Freeza? It’s all asspulling lol Dragon Ball isn’t meant to have a serious tone. Even Naruto has a lot of asspulling and people always say that’s the anime that you watch when you “grow out of Dragon Ball”.
