I’ve seen countless videos of him playing live and this is the first time i’ve seen a “glaring” mistake for him and it was hardly even noticeable. This dudes accuracy is soo impressive to me especially during the super lives I can’t imagine how hard it is to play his sets for that amount of time and not f up.

The 1st time I saw him on a Pioneer Laser disc, " Rainbow Goblins" . WOW !! This guy is a great guitar player and artist. That was over 30 years ago and still think he's incredible.

Whoa, dude! The first time I saw him, or even heard of him, was ALSO on Pioneer laser disc! What are the odds of that? I'll never forget it. I was a junior high kid all into stereo gear, the new Sony Walkman, etc, and I went to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Chicago and some booth had a giant projection TV, and they were rockin' out one of Takanaka's concert videos. Never heard of him, but I probably stood there for a half hour or more watching it. Great stuff, and I never forgot him, even though practically no one I ever talked to heard about him (unfortunately). Thanks for the memory!

(You can never come to this place)は我が人生最高の名曲でした!
Anyone know what year this is from? And where to find info on this guy?

Looks like the 80's he has the same hairstyle as when he did the Rainbow Goblins film (the other one on YT)

I saw an unconfirmed source claim 1981.

The other uploads of this on KZbin say 1980, but I think it's actually 1981. This was recorded at the same place as his fantastic live performance of The Rainbow Goblins, The Nippon Budokan. It was a two day concert, so that's almost definitely when this was recorded. The stage design looks the same, the band is the same, his outfit is basically the same, and his hair is the same rainbow color. He did another performance at Budokan in 1979 that was released in 1980 for the SUPER TAKANAKA LIVE! album but you can tell it's not the same performance of this song. That's probably where the others are getting confused though.
