I find it extremely touching that you do what you do with the storage units. I lost everything I owned in a house fire years ago. My room was upstairs and it started in the power line right outside my window. They managed to save the downstairs but everything upstairs was lost. So I know what it's like to lose it all. I had memory books I wrote for both of my kids. Every time they said or did something funny, sweet, memorable I’d write it out in a blank book. When they each turned 25 I gave them the dozen or so books so they could see what they did when they were little. They loved reading them.

I really wish it had been someone like you who bought my storage unit when I lost it. It had our entire house in it - furniture, nick knacks, household stuff, Christmas tree and decorations that my kids had made. I went to the auction even though I knew I wouldn't be able to get it back. I just wanted to talk to the person who bought it to ask if they would be willing to let me have my kids baby books and family pictures. The person who bought my unit glared at me and said that if I really wanted the stuff I would have kept up the payments. I left in tears, without our pictures. I went by there a few days later and some of our pictures were in the trash. I went through them, but most of them had been torn in half. What would have been salvageable was ruined by the rain. You are so wonderful for trying to return items like family pictures, service medals, and other sentimental things. The world needs more people like you. Good luck in your upcoming move. God bless.
