Thanks again for another very thoughtful and considered reaction. If you haven't already, you really need to see the band's live performance of Alone at Comiccon in London from 2016 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJ-tY6WprqmobKM), during what I believe was their first visit to the UK. As it's a "fancam" video, the sound is terrible (you can't even hear some of the band members), but it's very very special, remarkable in fact, for one reason which will become obvious quite quickly if you watch it. You mustn't deny yourself the pleasure of viewing it - trust me! :) Put it this way, the original upload of this video had nearly 500k views before it was taken down....

It definitely is a must see. Akane kills it on the drums. If there was any doubt about what an incredible drummer she than that video should leave NO DOUBT! Do yourselves a favor and watch that particular video. It is the closest thing to a drum cam one can find on shows what kind of of a beast of a drummer Akane is.

In one interview they said they basically record an ass-load of vocal tracks and then Miku and Saiki battle about which segments to use. So in a way the arrangement isn't really complete until they have a final mix...and of course then they proceed to add/change stuff for all the members in the live shows.

This is a song from 8 songs of their major debut mini album "Brand New MAID" released on May 18, 2016. This song is the only band-made songwriting. For the first time, Kanami's proposals were approved and entered the album.

I am glad that you liked this song. Because SAIKI is a few songs that participated in the lyrics. As usual, SAIKI modified most of the lyrics made by MIKU. That's why I collaborated with two people. It was a very thoughtful song for SAIKI. If SAIKI saw your video, he'll be happy.

There is a live version of this song that focuses on Akane's drumming (London ComicCon 2016 I think). That video has been taken down but I am sure a version of it is still somewhere. Akane absolutely killed that performance and made Akane my favourite among the maids. I highly recommend you to check it out!

I am always surprised how good the whole thing sounds for their first completely self-composed song. Just stumbled across a link to a video here on YT via Tw yesterday, which has actually been online since 2013 and shows Hirose performing as the drummer of a cover band before her time with Band-Maid. Very interesting as I think. After watching this video, I find the first videos of Band-Maid just with a view to Hirose only more interesting. This song has a very strong pop-punk vibe. And yeah, it also reminds me of Jimmy Eat World. And,yeah, you can also tell which time frame you are listening to by their outfits and instruments. This is the older variation of their costumes and they are still playing their old instruments: Kanami on her Addictone, Miku on her Rickenbacker, and Misa on her 4 string Fender.

This song is the first song written and composed by them themselves. The maid outfit comes with an apron. Misa is already a black assassin style. A straight rock'n'roll, but has the same vibes as the current song, and the sound is great, so it doesn't feel a bit old-fashioned. Rather, I love it because it is audible. In particular, many fans say that Kanami's solo is the best.

Easy giveaway for spotting early performances -Kanami using her Japanese guitar before the switch to US produced PRS. There are many differences but the easiest is the headstock, the Japanese having a strat style. She is a PRS featured artist.
