Side streets, old neighbourhoods, push cart food stalls and mom and pop eateries at corners of busy junctions are what gives character to a place. I love that urbanisation in Taiwan hasn’t “pushed” these away. Wonderful vlog this one, Richard, thank you.
Thank you for filming the video. I lived in Sin-Dan 10 years ago. I don’t know those shops. But the way they talked remain the same. Appreciate bringing back the good memory.

Hi mate, this is your old fan from Bedok (where else but afar in Singapore!). For a while, I seem to have lost sight of you and so I am really glad to have reconnected with you in this video. You seem to have shed some pounds but other than that, still the familiar humour and jest. The 胡椒饼 is one of my favourite snacks too, pretty much like how we also enjoy similar snack like karipap in Singapore.
Not necessary luxury food to be good enough, I myself in fact enjoy these kinds of little street food lots more. Good recommendations!! Thank you~

Wow what a great show. You are more Taiwanese than a natural born Taiwanese like me. I moved to the US for 27 years. Last time I went back to Xin Dian, I felt like a tourist. Taiwan certainly is a great place to live, we are seriously thinking to move back once retired

Agreed. I am moving back soon. I am a Malaysian but studied in Taiwan and can't stop missing the life there.

@@MrChingchingow The thing is if China invades Taiwan, its better to stay away. The time is getting closer day by day.
I know the feeling, coming back to somewhere you've lived long time ago, trying to find some tastes of the good old past days

It's really amazing to see him love the authentic Taiwanese food. These various snacks are very localized. Apparently, he is very good at enjoying these like most of Taiwanese. By the way, I live in Xindian and know exactly what he introduced.

Street food is humble and still the best. Shared the same feeling as Richard. Taiwan, does not have many老外,guess the vendors still can remember him. Heart warming to get in touch with these hawkers who earn little but provide such a important public service !
you know the typical Taiwanese foods really well, and your descriptions for those foods make great attraction to me . welcome back to Taiwan.

That half lost half down the memory lane is what I get everytime I travel back to Taiwan. I moved to the states when I was about 10yrs old. However, those early childhood flavor stay with you forever.
Hi, thank you so much for taking this video and sharing it to us. You also brought me back to over 30 years before when I was studying in 世新大學. Because the location is just beside 新店. That’s why I loved to go around there to eat or visit 碧潭 while waiting for the other classes to attend. Thank you very much for your video. The style is very heartwarming. Thank you.
