Finally a review from someone the same size as me and that you’re able to stand. I’ve been told that standing will be almost impossible for guys our size, how is this compared to the pescador? I’m considering this, the pescador, a crescent lite tackle and a moken 12.5. Also how wide is the seat on the Jonny boat

Nice review. The rocking side to side test is useless because as you push one side down you lean in the opposite direction so the boat doesn't flip (everyone does this). Once you lean out the boat flips easy. Interested to see how it performs loaded with a motor and fishing gear.

Thanks for the review.I was wondering how it would paddle as a kayak
@road2therunway5 жыл бұрын
Dannyo957 surprisingly well! The hull is not entirely flat so it does still track ok. Not sure about long distances yet but seriously can’t tell a difference in getting it moving between my pescador I used to have and the Jonny boat. Might invest in the beaver tail rudder just to make any tracking problems I MAY run into a non issue, but there is also DEFINITELY a motor and trolling motor in my future. I bought this to be a boat, and paddle if I absolutely have to.

I own the Bass 100. I had to move the seat towards all the way towards the middle to get better buoyancy. My battery weights 40 lbs, my motor weighs about 25, and I'm 6' 230/lbs and it handles fine only when the seat is all the way to the front/middle.

The Frustrated Fisherman : it looks to unstable for me. I've been in the market for a pedal driven kayak. I can just see myself dumping all my gear. Ldj
@road2therunway5 жыл бұрын
Larry johnson I have been on SEVERAL pedal driven boats, and paddle boats. This is by far the most stable platform I’ve been on. I was more comfortable standing up in Jonny than I was in the hobie pa. I actually fell out of a hobie PA at a demo day 😬

What rail system does it use I can't mount my garmin striker 4 with a scotty mount
@road2therunway3 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the long time since replying. It uses feelfree’s own proprietary system.
@alexmanru4 жыл бұрын
Hi! Nice test drive. But can you tell me: why you say that this hull is for planning? Except of the tail of course. I see, that nose of that hull is not so sharp. Bottom is like of trimaran or something, with waves from boat, are trapped inside, while moving. Is this the reason you say it's not for paddling, but for planning?
@road2therunway4 жыл бұрын
Yes. The folks at FeelFree designed this boat more like a flat bottom John boat than a kayak. It does have the two bulbous outer hull areas but they are much smaller than on traditional fishing kayaks of this size that are made for paddling. These are necessary to still provide stability but the vast majority of the hull is pretty flat. Traditional kayaks are built to attempt to have the least amount of boat touching the water as possible to eliminate resistance to motion. This isn’t really necessary with the Jonny boat since it is designed to be powered by at least 2 hspr.
@alexmanru4 жыл бұрын
@@road2therunway Thank you so much! You solved my questions 😄. I was wondering for a long time about what is best for paddling kayak, to be fast as much as stable: flat hull, rounded hull and reversed hull, like in this kayak, as you say, not really big bulbous outer areas, or something else? How about off shore conditions? What kind of hull will be better against waves?

Why did you get rid of your other Johnny boat with motor?
@road2therunway3 жыл бұрын
This was the same boat, but right when I got it. I had to sell Jonny because we moved somewhere with FAR less storage and it was either my bass boat, or the Jonny boat. Miss it every day though.

Finally a review from a bigger size man like me.....awesome review I ain't too worried about speed just balancing for a big guy like me lol and my balancing is bad lol
@batsbass41374 жыл бұрын
The only thing I’m worried about with this kayak is that back hole for the motor and with that being kind of like a storage area with my tacklebox and camera gear I’m afraid everything will get soaked is there anyway to seal that up?
@road2therunway4 жыл бұрын
Frank Donahue doubt you could. The hole in the rear is the only drain hole. The v-crate from Plano is a great option for back there to keep stuff dry. That’s what I use anyway.

FatKayakAngler any kayak is easy to flip if you grab the handles and lean all your weight over the side! It took doing something you would never actually do on the water to flip it though.

They need a swivle seat. That seat design is garbage for something meant to use a motor. Add some outriggers for those in gator land who rather not get in the water and they would sell alot more.
@road2therunway5 жыл бұрын
Lt. Fireguy there is a groove section meant for something “in development” just in the front of the last notches where you can move the seat to now. Might be mount for swivel, or a stand up platform. Not sure. I’m looking at ways to add a swivel bracket myself although with their motor kit, it’s really not necessary. Steering and shifting are all done out to the sides. All of that stuff should be arriving in the next week or so, so look out for a video on that! Thanks for the comment!
