Good point, but recent recreations have come a long way! Pinball FX3's nudge system compensate for those people playing with digital input (keyboard vs analogue stick) by not simulating a tilt bob. The nudge system is still robust, but is time based i.e. tilt warning for nudging twice in quick succession.

Actually even the most recent video games aren't even close Real machines have weight and proper physics to them, the games are practically archaic simulations focused more on graphics than gameplay (as always, lol)

@@RobotronSage take a look at some of the recent VPW VPX table to see the most realistic looking and playing tables to date e.g. Iron Maiden Legacy of the Beast, Last Action Hero, Tommy and Total Nuclear Annihilation. Even some original tables are worth looking at e.g. Blood Machines. I don't play FX3/FX much any more.

I will agree that digital pinball will never totally replace the experience of playing on a real machine, but I will say the simulations seem to just keep getting better as time goes by. To say nothing of people who build the vpin cabinets with shaker motors and nudge sensors in them. Personally a fan of the genre as I don't have the space (or sadly, the funds) for a real machine yet, but I've enjoyed playing pinball since I was very young.

The 'nudging' showin is very tame.... I've owned and pwned many pinballs including a black-knight 2000 and eventually with each of them got gott enough to to play it for hours on a single ball - then usually got bored and lost really fast but the take away is u gotta make dat thing ur biatch, grab it with intent and test it's limits - the tilt sensor u show is capible of being adjusted height-wise so that it's more or less sensitive. Also behind the plumb bob thingy is another tilt sensor specifically designed to detect lifting of the table... Do you make the music u use for ur videos? It's really awesome!

New pinball machines have so much bullshit going on with the screen they might as well be digital. Nothing beats the 90's machines
@Reggie20004 жыл бұрын
Is that you and your pinball machines in this video? Because if so, then I'm pretty jealous. Those are two great machines. Mark Ritchie's Diner and a classic wide body from 81. What is funny for me though, is I first fell in love with both pinball and Diner playing them in the digital world. I get what your saying, but I do fill that great strides have been made in the genre. I hope those strides continue. But yea, nothing will ever replace the real deal.

Actually my dad's! He restores them. He's had a Black Jack, Highspeed, 8ball, Embryon, Xenon, Flash Gordon, and some others I can't quite remember. This video is a bit constrained since it was part of a 1 minute collab video, so if I did a pinball followup it would be far more comprehensive.

You can actually get really accurate nudging capabilities by using an accelerometer with programs like Visual Pinball X. Especially on virtual pinball machines, it is really impressive and solves your problem all together. Take a look (nudging part will automatically play): kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5avh3x-arODoK8 . Apart from the glitching when the ball comes to the left of the shooter lane (that's a glitch with the table itself, and not the nudging feature).

Yeah I have no doubt that modern games have finally been able to accurately replicate the physics! There have been some huge advancements over the years. This video was intended more as a quick explanation of the concept of tilting using Space Cadet Pinball (and other digital pinball games of the same era) as an intro point. Plus, this had the 1 minute time limit since it was part of a large collab, if I ever do a longer video on pinball it's definitely something I'd cover.

@1998SIMOMEGA It was a contribution to a larger video where each segment had to be exactly 60 seconds long. If I had more time I would have gone into more depth.
