I hope this video does come across as fear mongering or anything. I just enjoy giving both sides of the coin on the topics I speak about. There are some inherent risks with glamping. So for the glampsite owners try and think about these items when you think about safety and also how you can make things easier for guests. For guests, the biggest bit of advice is reach out to the glampsite owner and ask if there are any special or off-grid items that you will need to use at the glampsite that you are not familiar with and try to research them before going. (such as a wood stove, propane heater, etc)

Definitely an important topic 👍 Especially considering the amount of ‘city’ people going out into the wilderness with little to no experience in these situations.

Absolutely, guests and hosts both need to ensure enough info is given or requested for safer stays. Or rule of thumb, NO WOOD STOVES lol

It’s definitely all things that should go into a “welcome” packet of info. I know for us it would be recommended to list medical resources of how far out they might be.

One STR host hack I heard recently is place QR codes next to things that might need an explanation- camp stove, compost toilet, generator, etc- the code lets your guest see a video of you explaining how to use. Also can leave instructions in guest book but some people won’t read!

That is a great pro tip! I use a labeler around my cabin and even traditional airbnbs to leave info for guests.

Its so weird that for some reason i never thought of these things before. I just figured it was all good lol.

haha because no one is talking about this stuff. Most of the people on youtube talking about glamping are glampsite owners (myself included) so why would they bring up the bad parts?

I would be delighted to stay in your A-frame. I'm not afraid of snakes. If one simply knows their habits and takes precautions (they like to take cover in tall grass), all is well. With all animals, you just keep your eyes open and be aware of your surroundings, just like in a city. With a big open field like your property, you can see if a big animal like a bear is coming from very far away. Btw, your scenery is beautiful and restful to the spirit. That's what matters to me.

You should have added don’t feed the wildlife. Period. Does not matter if it’s an apex predator or an adorable chipmunk feeding them once adorable but they can turn into a destructive nightmare for your host and for future glampers/campers not just for this one spot but all over. JUST DONT DO IT! Also by not feeding them you are saving their life as if a bear gets too familiar with humans they can get more aggressive towards them and that will result in their unfortunate death. We love our bears… and we can cohabitate
