You have some awesome points :) One problem I have with 3-5acres is it isn't enough to get outside city limits usually, and thus, you don't have "land" you have "big suburb". Some of these "lots" actually have HOAs. Plus, you have to worry about property value.... on 40 acres, as long as you stay on your land, and don't be a jerk, most folks leave you be. It's vacationers that are the issue then usually

This guy is a moron, he has no imagination. Some of his points are valid, but he’s mostly insulting. Build the house you want, you have to live in it.

Big A frame home... there is nothing more beautiful than that man.. If you want a place just to crush and sleep and that's your usage having a home, well ofc not.. but if you spending more time at home or having little bit relaxing lifestyle they will fit in for sure...They are amazing, specialy if you want to get rid of mother in law which doesn't like you.. 'diamond space' at summer and sabotage AC? Perfection

A-frames are not stupid with heavy snow. It keeps your roof from collapsing. So, if the structure is in an area that gets heavy snow, it's perfect. Especially if it is a vacation home and you can't be there to clear the heavy snow off the roof.

I HATE A-Frame for all the above reasons 😡 Such a horrible use of materials, space, energy efficiency, etc. etc. etc.

When a society has become so OCD and integrated their collective mental compulsive disease into “law”… you get nothing but more of the mental insanity under the guise of “regulation and safety”! But the truth is it’s just compulsive people afraid of not being in control of other peoples actions and freedoms! It’s a mental disease! Truth is the greatest most ancient architecture from the days of old that have stood the rest of time over thousands of years are not permitted under our current compulsory systems of control even if you could recreate them… the building department would never permit them. Now we get the luxury of a new entry level home in almost ALL communities costing well north of $300k and attached to a 30yr contract of bondage! No wonder homelessness is a pandemic! When you outlaw a persons ability to self build a dwelling without having to pay for government permission, on the land they own, within their own financial means… you will get more and more homelessness from younger generations unable to afford life! And you will get more and more old people hunkering down in McMansions because it’s the only place for them to safely horde the remnants of their wealth from their younger working years. Thinking a house is an investment is the biggest pyramid scheme the government has ever created! It’s a horrible property tax scheme to defraud and strip people of their equity! Buildings depreciate, land appreciates… but people foolishly think the house is appreciating and that their investment is protected by these archaic building code restrictions that limit land owners ability to increase available low cost dwelling units from coming to market.

If having a mountain is what you want, get it. If you're a hunter and at 60 you can wander 2000 acres because you're not some pussy, get it.

There is no such thing as non-usable land...if you think that way, YOU, & the constraints of your own imagination are your own limitations.

i am buying land in a hilly state for that very reason. it is app. 100 acres. i am going to pay to have a basic road built to the center, build an off grid cabin. it will be gated and posted. the dog and i will spend our days being left alone and ''walking the line''.

Thank you for the video and for reality. Wondering how much grass you have to cut? Fyi Huge (unattractive) lawns are terrible for the the environment. Why not have a garden, trees, leave it wild!🌎🙏 etc.

When I bought my land here in Mississippi, I got the best piece of advice by both the Inspector and the County Sherriff, The Sherriff actually lives "next door" which is actually a half mile away...... When we were doing the clean up there was a 1940's-1950's mobile home that was falling in on itself and they both told me "tear that trailer down and build your house on the frame and keep the wheels on it. As long as it's built on the trailer frame with the wheels still on it it's considered a remodel not a build and it doesn't need to be approved or inspected by the county and you don't need a permit for it no matter the square footage. The Frame was 12X50 so I built a 12x42 (504 sq feet) house with an 8 foot front deck on top of the Mobile home frame on a concrete pier foundation. You gotta find the loop holes.

The tiny home idea is resounding well with the Baby Boomers who have already had the big house, the best car, high taxes, and suddenly you noticed that everyone hung out in a certain area of the like the family room/kitchens. My last home was really very beautiful, if you were hanging out in the family room in front of the fireplace you couldn’t see the formal living room and formal dining room. At the the time that situation worked out for me. It no longer does. I’m 70 years young and I am not anyone’s Grandmom. I’m more of a Woodstock Era person. Young at heart. I not only understand tiny homes, after looking at several companies, it is perfect match for me. No one ever told me where to put them. Must I own land? So many advertisements tend to make you think that you can just plop in the middle of a forest. Is there any way of getting one and not having to buy land?

Have to take into consideration that the house built on a beautiful hill is going to cost more because that hillside view is going to come at a higher price. Buying land is never a bad investment that’s one thing they won’t be making anymore of is land.

All the problems you're presenting have simple solutions. A frame homes are cheaper to build as well, so you should have room in the budget to accommodate.

In America, you dont really own land !!! The federal government is the owner , every year you WILL pay rent to the government!!! If you dont ,,, you’ll be evicted
