This spillway puts my city’s youthful shenanigans spot to shame.. All we have where I live is an aqueduct system that runs alongside the freeway. There is however another aqueduct system that runs down the middle of the freeway about a mile ahead. But I haven’t figured out how to access it yet. No one else in the city seems to have either as there’s no graffiti on the walls.

"99 Luftballons" (German: Neunundneunzig Luftballons, "99 balloons") is a song by the German band Nena from their 1983 self-titled album. An English-language version titled "99 Red Balloons", with lyrics by Kevin McAlea, was also released on the album 99 Luftballons in 1984 after widespread success of the original in Europe and Japan. The English version is not a direct translation of the German original and contains lyrics with a somewhat different meaning. I love that song. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2mZn5ltotWCjs0

The name of that lake is Girard Lake there used to be a bridge that went out to that platform I used to go out on it when I was a kid there is a gear mechanism that went all the way down into the water on the outside of the concrete spillway to open up the valves at the bottom of the lake to drain it it's the first time I've seen it all dismantled since I've moved away from there 25 years ago, they used to keep the whole damn mowed it's amazing to see trees growing on it now thanks for the vid.

If you notice there are two small pipes coming out of base of the vertical part. These pipes are connect to the superstructure on the top of the shaft and are use to drain the lake if needed. Of course the wheels used to open these valves are not always kept on site to prevent someone from tampering.

I was walking along this canal with my cousins , not looking down . At one point I happened to look at the ground , the grate was open to this spill off drain . The water was pouring down this dark hole and I was just about to step into it. Had I, I’d be dead for sure....scary af.

Perhaps you're unaware of just how opposite those 2 substances are? Just because things are drugs doesn't mean they feel the same, "meet" the same needs, contain the same cultures/people, or wreak the same type/degree/severity of damage to yourself and/or your loved ones. Also, I've heard of marijuana, heroin/fentanyl, and crystal methamphetamine called "dope." MEXICANMOOSE1976 actually that one wouldn't have been too bad to waterslide. Check out the one at lake berryessa in California. Something like 72 feet across and 300something feet deep. That would be a bad one to waterslide. It's pretty though there's a video like this of someone going in the tunnel at the bottom and there all kinds of stuff in there. Different diversion shafts, walls, other tunnels, it's pretty awesome, as long as you don't try to slide down from the top.

Dude, that's awesome! Where was this! I love exploring underground drainage tunnels and stuff like that! This reminds me of when I went to my uncle's house in Columbus Ohio for Thanksgiving break! Being a huge Brave Wilderness fan, I had to visit this lake called Thorough Lake in Blendon Woods Metro Park cuz that's where Coyote Peterson has been catching and documenting some of the nation's largest snapping turtles for the past 10 years! I don't know if you know about Brave wilderness but if not, definitely check them out! I think you'd like them! Anyways, after spending a few hours finding Coyote's kayak hidden under a dock, climbing a seed silo, finding a den of 20 mice and catching one, I noticed one of these drainage things that led to a tunnel outside the lake! I crawled through the tunnel all the way down into the lake and just kind of stood in this huge chamber as the water rained down around me! It was awesome!

I used to live on a small ranch in Texas, and we had standpipe like that in our pond. They work great when you aren't able to use a spillway for overflow in a pond or small lake. Ours was made of pipe.

We have a similar reservoir here in UK, The Ladybower reservoir in Derbyshire, it has two overflow spillways to prevent the dam overflowing. The tunnels don't have walkways so you can only get in them when the reservoir water level is down.
