I really enjoyed watching your video. I love how you check out all the little things like scum lines, crystals and all the types of calcite formation and flow stones. I think I would have wussed out on going in there with rain on the forecast, that or how close to the cave ceiling the water level was, or how deep it got. Looks like you were have some great fun swimming around down there. Cheers mates, from Australia.

As an old caver (72) I don't get to get underground anymore but I really enjoy your channel, although you sometimes worry me. one thing we used to do to avoid getting turned around in an unfamiliar cave was to use tongue depressor sticks (big popsicle sticks) we put orange reflective tape on half of one side and white reflective tape on the other side. when we came to a split in the passage we would place a reflective stick in the rock, orange means you are going in white indicates you are headed out. last man pulls the sticks and nothing is left behind, and your ready for your next adventure. these are especially helpful if you find yourself in a stressful situation. Hope this idea is helpful. be safe,

Good advice. Things can look different on the way out leading to confusion and wrong choices. I would not have even gone there with rain in the forecast. An hour later and it may have become a search and rescue/recovery.

I've been commenting this on your page for a while now about this. After your experience here I hope you take this to heart. You have to start following some safety protocols because at this point it's just a matter of time before you or one of your friends gets hurt or killed in one of these caves. I know you've been doing it for actually not that long but a little while but it would be a tragedy for something serious to happen just cause you're not taking a little extra time to put some safety steps in your cave experience. Accidents that lead to death happen to often in caves don't be the next news headline it would break a lot of people's heart's.

Guys.....I absolutely LOVE your channel. However....I am seriously worried about your luck running out one day. You only beat the odds so many times until finally one day your luck runs out. If you both knew that this cave had even the possibility of there being water all the way to the ceiling, you should have been more prepared and brought some sort of scuba gear. I also want to know if you guys make it a habit to always check the local area news station doppler radar before you go into a wet cave? Guys that is something that can save your lives......I love watching you guys and I watch these videos with my family....The last thing I want to see is bad news that one or both of you lost your life in an accident that could have been prevented. STAY SAFE!
@rpglennj3 ай бұрын
Thanks for documenting your journeys. As an educational aside, I continue to encourage you guys to shore up your safety protocols. GROUP SIZE: You need at least a minimum of 3 in a group so if there’s an injury, one can tend to the injured and the other go for help. WEATHER: The cave is known to flood/sump and even if there’s a just a 15% chance of precipitation for the forecast area, you should take into account the area that drains into the cave too. Summertime convective storms- even if a slim chance and isolated- can be disastrous if the storm is geographically placed right. Know the type of storm mode predicted too…….are they going to be progressive and be on the move? Or will they be air-mass type and sit over one area for a time (and produce higher amounts)? When are they expected (typically late-day)? Know how to read the local National Weather Service forecast discussion so you can be informed early as to whether it’d be a good idea to enter a wet cave on that forecast day. CLOTHING: In this day and age with the technical synthetic clothing materials available for adventure recreation, there’s no reason to be in jeans in a wet cave. TIME: Always have a reliable way to monitor time underground and it should be attached to your person. MONITORING PHYSICAL CONDITION: If your extremities are losing feeling due to cold after being submerged, you’re compounding your ability to mitigate an emergency should you need to exit quickly…..or negotiate technical moves requiring manual dexterity of foot and hand. NAVIGATION: I agree with others that you need a systematic way of marking your exit in major junctions in a new cave. This only ensures your quicker exit should you need it and conserves energy wasted down dead-end/wrong passages. At the very least, periodically looking behind you to making mental note of key formations since the passage will look different on the way out.

At first i thought the other kid just couldnt catch subtle hints but then quickly realized his complete disregard simply cuz he wanted to keep going. Ngl i dont like this one, from the cold to if your lost and stuck treading water with nothing to grab& boots on, to the fact that you guys were in there while its pouring rain. I know u guys know what your doing but sometimes feel as though youve done it so many times with no hiccups youve forgotten how fast things can go wrong in a split second and get a bit of thrill goin in with no markers or anything. The main guy filming is usually down for everything & for him to have to mention hes cold multiple times & his mate just completely ignores it because hes got a divesuit & wants more footage is just total reckless abandon for situational awareness that can either prevent or cause catastrophe . For u guys to be just winging it on directions in the ones not filled with water is one thing but caves like this demand their respect. Awsome vid as always though

I don’t mean you should stop doing it, I just mean that maybe caves that gives anxiety/claustrophobic problems aren’t really good for you, because you don’t wanna die because of having fun. I didn't like that cave. I couldn't see any part of the cave that looked like it couldn't completely fill up - it looked like if it started to flood the part nearer the entrance could fill before the deep part did, leaving you stuck in the deep part with no way out as it slowly filled to the ceiling with nowhere to go that was safe to wait for the water to go down - also, it was so wide that it could look way different when the water rose 3 inches which could mix you up more. It won't break my heart if you never go back to that one.

Mt. Saint Helens has a cool public cave, Ape Cave. Really cool. Really big! Lots of folks there in summer. My son and I rented a lantern at the entrance (of course we had headlamps too) it was very fun. But then also on tht mountain in another spot is a lava tube maybe 25 feet long, about 15 feet underground only big enough to crawl through. It is a little attraction with signs and stuff. My son really wanted to try it so I did but I still habe nightmares about that horrible closing in feeling under the ground. The walls were totally smoothe volcanic glass. It was neat but I prefer big giant tall caves lol
