This safari was so well video taped that I truly feel as though I was there (with Michael Pott’s phenomenal closeups added in, the experience was better than most travel blogs I watched). Job well done. Thanks for taking me along on this dream of a trip👏🏻🥰🍹

When Philip said he thought the elephant penis was a baby elephant's trunk I laughed so hard that my husband came running to see if I was alright. I have never in my life laughed so hard, and it wasn't so much what was said but that it was Philip that said it. In fact I am still laughing so hard that my eyes are watering and I can barely type this message.

I think it's the closest I've ever come to feeling like I was on an African safari myself, almost as if I was riding along in the jeep with everyone, all thanks to Stephanie's filming and Michael Potts' extraordinary close-up photography. What a very special treat, as was Stephanie's comment on the cheetahs circling close by: "If they wanted to they could outrun the Land Rover. They can run between 80-130 kilometers an hour -- just a little bit slower than my mother." Oh my gosh, a good laugh out of that one. Then Gerry's visit from the hyenas. Sure glad he didn't open the door to hand feed them!

Michael, your photography is incredible. Wonderful shots! Gerald, your humor, as always, made everything so much fun and watching Phillips face seeing this for the first time was a treat. As always your narration and Victorian history of the safari was so informative and interesting! Thank you so so much with all my heart. Having said all of this I would be remiss if I didn’t include how wonderful to see Percy and Isabelle. I believe Michael’s Mum was also there. How wonderful.

There is a mini safari in Oregon, and back in the 70's my aunt used to be a tour guide, so these families would drive up to the head office, hire her and she'd tell them all about the animals as they drove through but, there was this camel that fell for her and would go to any car she was in and start lipping and licking the windows...so my aunt changed parfums, soap, shampoo, deodorant, washing detergent and still that insane Camel kept making love to the cars so after innumerable interventions by the park rangers they had to ask my aunt to leave...she was already a teacher so this was some summer fun and for weekends...mast time she went through was with us and it was insane how the camel bounded over to the car out of all the cars driving through and started in on the windshield and rear view mirror...

This is in no way a commentary on Steph and company's decision to go on Safari. I would love to go on safari in Africa but as a white privileged American woman I feel like I will be representing the colonials who took so much advantage of Africans and Africa's resources including slavery and I don't want to contribute to that painful history and memories. I rather donate money directly to animal sanctuaries like elephant sanctuaries in Africa who are protecting elephants from asian ivory poachers. Going on a safari in South Africa is a no no because again as a white person, I'm the face of a painful apartheid which is still causing so much pain and inequality, case in point the two covid variants that have come out of South Africa because of it's vaccine inequality.
