Something I've noticed about my very frequent "me time" excursions is that when you're by your self, people are so different to you. Like in a good way, especially old people. Like when I'm with friends and I go to a cafe we keep to ourselves but when I go alone, I'll have a great convo with the cafe owner. I feel like it really helps your confidence to talk to random people (when you feel safe to do so) and forge these really unique human connections

I went to Wizkid’s USA tour alone just this past weekend after no one wanted to go. I almost didn’t go and bought my ticket 2 hours before the show. I’m glad I did though! I met some great people and we kept each other company and enjoyed the show. It’s nerve-wrecking at first but you can’t always depend on people to go to events or else you’ll never go! I have so many incredible solo experiences traveling around the world because I don’t wait on people’s decisions. I just go!

I think when it comes down to it.. to doing things alone is confidence. You have to come to a point of just being solo every once in while. It doesn't hurt. Love ya, Sis😘

I love going out alone! I suppose I started when I would wander off in museums and gardens whenever my family were on a vacation together, but I absolutely adore being able to do my own thing with zero consideration for anyone else. It's wonderfully freeing to just fully immerse yourself in the thing you are doing with zero need to carry a conversation during it. My main safety habit is that if I feel worried, I'll grip my largest key in my fist. Not between my fingers like claws, but with the key sticking out of the little-finger side of my closed fist, ready to slam into someone if need be. I've never needed to use it, thankfully, but it is the more powerful way to use one's keys as a weapon as the key is more securely held that way.

I am 28 and have been going out alone for the past decade. I go by the lake, watch sunsets, just take a ride around the city, have lunch, some tea, street food, dinner, BBQ, and even watch movies all by myself.. I love it. Also I make it a point to never be on my phone when I am alone.. no internet surfing. I just observe and absorb. Just enjoy.

I've been venturing out on solo excursions for decades and I absolutely love it. Going places alone gives me a chances to navigate the world at my own pace and engage with everyone I meet. One of the things that has made me more comfortable going out alone is having a "road dog" (the four-legged kind). Having a dog makes you a less desirable target while making you more approachable for casual interactions.

I love going out by myself. I did it all last week. I started doing it a few years ago. My favorite thing to do is try a coffee shop I've never been to before. It allows me to take a book with me or my journal to write what's on my mind. I've also gone to a couple bars to enjoy myself by watching the football games or talking with the bartender. I bought myself a pocket knife to defend myself, and my keys have a plastic tool on them to put two fingers through and the ends are pointy in the case I can't get to my knife in time. I grew up being hyper aware of my surroundings, because most of my dad's family works in law enforcement. Then, I used to work in downtown Portland and would commute by bus. I listen to music almost all the time when I'm out while still being hyper aware.

Two dots is so addictive! I needed this video as a reminder to get back into going out alone. My big goal is to go to a BTS concert. Plus side of attending a concert alone, you BOUND to get a good seat because there's always a random gap between couples/groups that sit together lol. Same with cinema seats. Hopefully I get to challenge myself to one day.

This video just popped up right when I am at the restaurant dining solo by choice. Yes, ladies I used to be so terrified going out solo but since I moved to a different city and haven't made tons of friends...I started going out solo when I feel like it. I sit by the Bar area and I will order a nice meal and a drink. It's not bad and nobody really cares if you are there alone. It's also an opportunity to meet a guy if you are single😉

Love this, I think can be a power move to go out by yourself! I actually prefer to go to concerts by myself, so I can go full on dorky fan girl without any interruptions! The only time it can be a little sketch is going to bars alone, just because some people make assumptions that you are there with the sole goal of hooking up, but I have done it before, and wish it was more normalized.

I've gone to many concerts by myself, and I never even thought twice about the fear of going alone, because I really wanted to see the artist that was performing! If friends didn't want to come with me I wouldn't stop myself from having an amazing musical experience. I think if you think about it this way it can be way less nerve wrecking. Also, everyone is in the same boat as you and they just want to experience the show like you. I went to see Rihanna by myself in 2016, and the girl I ended up sitting next to went to the concert by herself as well! Her and I chatted and got to know each other before the show, and bonded over our love for Rihanna. We were so comfortable with each other than we ended up splitting a few drinks (safely with our own cups since stadium prices are no joke), laugh, cried, and joked through the entire thing. My tips for going to a concert alone: 1. If it's assigned seating, don't show up until the main act if you don't care about the opening act! You know your seat will be waiting for you, so don't feel pressured to show up early and sit around and be awkward when you only came for the main act. 2. If it's general admission, and you're not overly obsessed with the act, stay towards the back and just vibe. You can always find people dancing and singing by themselves or with a partner and everyone is so lost in the music it legit doesn't matter.

I do a lot of things alone. Since I was a child, I enjoy being around people but for only a short period of time 😂. Plus I lived in south africa for 12 yrs. That country made me become a safety "expert" from my early teen years. You were to be attacted on daily basis. I think that's where I practised running and carrying anything that could use to protect myself (but a gun). Now living in Ireland is just the complete opposite, but I'm still careful. My hubby is just the opposite

Oh my gosh, someone who thinks like me!!!! My friends and family are always like I'm a pessimist or doomsday person as I'm always thinking of the worst case scenario. But that's for me to be sure I'm good and I have an exit strategy in case something goes wrong lol

Mace can be difficult to use. It doesn’t always work on other people, some people it just doesn’t effect. But it’s easy to spray yourself accidentally, especially in small spaces like a car or inside a room. It can be super helpful to read about mace before you carry it!

Everytime i hear all these pre cautions people in the US have to take just to keep themselve safe make me sad. I think no have to go thru this kind of fear and paranoia especially in their own country. I am truly grateful, that where i am from is realativelg very safe to go out, even in the wee hours of the night.

I mostly go out by myself. Concerts, plays, comedy shows, you name it. The only thing I haven't done is travel out the country by myself.
