I'd wager that those enemies weren't placed out of bounds; it was more that you were still tied to the mountains location, and those enemies just randomly spawn around you if you are in the mountains location.

Not exactly random, but I do think you're right. Enemy spawns locations aren't random, they're specific to map coordinates. But that section of ground is likely considered part of the mountain or maybe even used to be part of it before being moved.

There canonically is other areas outside of the Hyrule we can explore in-game as evidenced by Yona who is from another domain, Penn, and wherever Kass has ventured off to. But I wonder if it is considered “Hyrule” but it’s just a different island with a different domain and wherever Penn comes from. Orrr is it called something different. Is Hyrule like a country, a continent? And those characters are from different countries or continents?? Did people flee to these other lands 100 years ago during the great calamity?

Hyrule is a country. The world is called the Light World. There are other countries like Holodrum and Labrynna from the Oracle games, and the Land of the Spirits of Good from Spirit Tracks.

​​@@CallMeNoathe country is called Hyrule but so is the continent (fairly sure it's official, I seem to remember it being mentioned but can't remember where). The world is called Earth (official, from Miyamoto and/or Aonuma's mouth). The continent has North Hyrule (sometimes called Hytopia [canon]) to the north of the chasm (Colta Canyon [semi canon]), East Hyrule (sometimes called the Drablands [canon]) which is a seperate landmass and to the east of N. Hyrule. There are other countries on the continent of Hyrule: Holodrum [c], Labrynna [c], Calatia [sc], and Arcadia [sc]. Then there is another continent that "New Hyrule" would be on though most of the time it would be significantly larger due to not being flooded so it could have many countries in it. If you look at the ground from the wind palace in TMC you can see both continents. Incidentally the wind palace is far, far higher than anything in TotK so there are likely multiple levels to the sky that usually can't see each other.

I almost left the question mark off the title because by the end it's more of a statement, but yeah I agree, it would have been cool if at least part of the game had taken place somewhere else to kind of get that original feeling of exploration and new-ness that botw had. They did the best they could by adding caves and the depths, but it still was missing something in discovery during gameplay for me

9:01, its probably not A or B. I dont think they wanted to use this place early in development and to think that Nintendo themselves wanted to award people for cheating in a gameis also pretty random lol. I think the most logic answer is that Nintendo made these entities to spawn randomly, which you can actually see inside of the boundaries as well. Its kinda hard to make put in like specific bird or skeleton spawners, much easier is to make a code that spawns them when the temperature or the time is this or that.

Ah, I didn't think about randomly generating enemies and wildlife spawning outside the boundaries. That's a solid answer tbh. I knew chus, stalkoblins, keese, and birds were used like that, but thought mini taluses were all static. Thanks for the info!

I played totk first and then botw. I did notice a few of the invisible winds in totk, but in botw I reached the limits of this unknown world twice, when I was exploring the gerudo and it said I can’t go any further, and the spikes by the akkala labyrinth 😅
