The line, “Is there, is there balm in Gilead, tell me truly I implore,” to which the Raven, of course, replies, “Nevermore” is near the end of the poem. it’s a desperate plea from the narrator for relief from the suffering he’s endured due to Lenore’s (his love) death. It fits nicely with the healing ointment Quentin is using earlier in the chapter.

What do you think their issue with Quentyn being alive is? Compared to Jon who got turned into swiss cheese and by all logic should be even less likely to come back, but will.

I think people just met Quentyn in Dance and so they haven't opened their hearts to him the way they did for Jon. I legit saw a commenter angrily claiming that if Quentyn is alive, Jon MUST be alive otherwise we are FILTHY HYPOCRITES! Like it's a competition rather than a story.

Quentyn doesn't have an "easy out" (like Brienne), nor Thoros or Melisandre even on the same continent.

In a world where Drink was being honest in the Queen's Hand chapter about the sellswords running away, wouldn't they just do what Quentyn did, and memorize the route out? Quentyn was taken down into the pit once several weeks ago, whereas the Windblown were just guided down 5 seconds ago - and knowing that they'd likely have to fight their way out, and that their guide could easily be killed off, wouldn't they pay extra close attention to the route?

When I listened to the chapter originally I had the Lannister brothers and their respective lions the other way around. I had Tyrion as the one with the white hair and blood, as he is about a battle, and Jaime as the one who had gone missing. Funny how it works both ways around.

Speaking outside the fanfic, what's the main argument against Skahaz and his faction being responsible of the assasination attempt, whomever the target was? It was done using locusts and then he put his most loyal soldiers in locust masks and took pretty good advantage of all the carnage, getting his way on bunch of stuff that was denied of him by Dany before.

I was surprised to see Quentyn with visserion instead of rhaegal. Wasn’t rhaegal the one that burned him in Dance? I assumed if he was eventually going to be a dragon rider opposite of Daenerys that it would be Green dragon vs Black like the original dance of the dragons.

This was my favourite chapter so far but I just have one question/problem. How heavy do we think the dragons are at this point? They gotta fly around and drogon is roughly the same size as Dany from the pit with comparable weights I guess. Cracking new pyramid stone broke my suspension of disbelief and lowered my IMMERSION! :)

True, but that's an issue inherited from ADwD, where GRRM wrote that Rhaegal collapsed the pyramid of Hazkar. Rhaegal and Viserion are probably a bit heavier than Drogon at this point, because though they're smaller, they're wearing the thick iron collars Dany put on them (unless those somehow broke off right after The Dragontamer chapter?) This could introduce a new issue, though... should Viserion be able to fly with the weight of Quentyn plus that collar?

What I dont understand is why the burned and injured bodies of the Dragon-stealers would be collected, brought up in the Daenerys Royal Pyramid, and then treated with bandages and opim and stuff? When Daenerys staff, including Barristan, learned the dragons had been loosed, and went into the chamber and found Quentyns body, why would they bother helping him? He's a criminal - a terrible criminal to tried to steal from Daenerys who gave them shelter and an audience, and tried to steal dragons no less, the key treasure of Daenerys. They should've been put down on the spot.

GRRM has access to some of the greatest writers alive. If he's truly having "issues", there isn't a single fan who would give one tiny ounce of sht if he brought in a couple of these amazing writers as ghost writers, and let them write some stuff as he dictates to them the direction he wants to go in. It isn't like he couldn't afford to do it, and it isn't like the writers wouldn't love to do it. The only thing that prevents it is GRRM's ego, and his ego is going to make what would have been the greatest series ever go on to be sort of like the show simply bc it never got finished. Seriously, would anyone care at all if GRRM brought in help to finish a story as massive as this?? Bc I wouldn't care at all. Esp since he would be dictating it and editing it. Smh. I just can't believe Winds is never going to be released. Dream was always a stretch, and i knew that in 2013. But i always thought at least Winds will come and *some* answers to the big questions would be answered. And then Preston is proving the point even more. By showing how if he just brought in some help, *both* books could get finished. It breaks my heart. Smh.

Why not get out in front of it and have it be done while he's still alive and the books can be given their rightful credit. Ego. That's the only reason he won't do it. And that's such a dumb reason to allow a series like this to be tarnished.. bc if he does bring in a ghost writer to help and they get finished, these books will be read 100 years from now. In all honesty, when the fanfic was first announced, I was anxious that it wouldn't come off as "George's writing". Ever since, the prologue was released, I've been tricked into believing that Preston and his team have managed to capture the essence of the story in George's voice, except Preston is ADVANCING the story. GRRM has done NOTHING to advance the story in any meaningful or logical fashion. I hate to be a dick-riding PJ fanboy, but he's given us more content and food for thought over the last 2 years than George has been able to deliver over the past 2 decades. Sweetrobin fanfic = might as well be canon at this point.
